Digitakt MIDI + Make Noise 0-Coast/Modular

Hello,

I am wondering if someone can offer some advice

I want to set up Digitakt MIDI out to do the following:

  1. Send Digitakt MIDI clock (start/stop with Digitakt sequencer) to 0-coast tempo in (then clock out from 0-coast into eurorack clock divider) - basically making Digitakt master clock for modular through the 0-coast. 0-coast accepts CC on channel 114 to turn MIDI clock on/off.

  2. Digitakt MIDI channel 1 to program, sequence MIDI A on 0-coast.

  3. Digitakt MIDI channel 2 to program different sequence MIDI B on 0-coast (which will send CV and Gate to quantiser into eurorack VCO).

In theory this should all be possible. Can I do this by connecting a single MIDI cable from Digitakt MIDI out to 0-coast MIDI in? My Digitakt is currently on its way to Elektron for a screen change (I had a finger print underneath the screen from assembly) so can’t test at the moment.

Yep, this all works as described.

Unlike my MPC the Digitakt sends constant clock via MIDI, not just on playback, which is a godsend! There is a little stutter in the clock out signal when you press play which I am assuming is normal so that the CV clock and MIDI sync up.

Yay! That is awesome.

That saves a lot of money on eurorack modules which will mostly likely still be spent on other eurorack modules haha!

I don’t know why I didn’t think of it earlier to use the 0-coast as a “middleman” from Digitakt to eurorack and add the fact that Digitakt can independently sequence 8 sample tracks at the same time…pretty powerful indeed.

Indeed!

I use two midi tracks per 0-coast midi channel so I can add variations to existing sequences but nothing to stop you using 4 midi tracks per 0-coast channel!
