Hello there, I’m working on a piece of music in Logic Pro X that is 9/8 and 3/4. I want to get the Digitakt running but, I can’t figure out how to sync the two so the Digitakt is set for the correct number of steps per bar…am I expressing myself correctly? Anybody get this problem…or had, this problem/issue?
It’s difficult to tell.
I will describe a scenario that might provoke some further details from you.
Suppose you were to think of one bar of 4/4 as a 16-step sequence on the Digitakt. Then you might think of one bar of 9/8 as an 18-step sequence, and one bar of 3/4 as a 12-step sequence.
If that were the case, and you wanted the two one-bar sequences to play simultaneously and continuously without resetting before either sequence is complete, then you could set the Master Length of the Digitakt’s pattern to be the lowest common multiple of 18 and 12, which is 36.
Why anyone would do this to themselves is beyond me…
If I was working in Logic in 9/8, my gut instinct would be to use the Digitakt as a sound module and just clock/sync it to Logic to get timings into the DT (delays, LFO’s etc)… then I would probably use trigless-trigs if I wanted to use some Elektron conditions and record it back into Logic.
Further questions…well let me get in there. I’ll be back. Thanks for the time to answer my query Peter.
