Digitakt II volume and cracks/pops issue when recording through Overbridge

Hi all, I have a Digitakt II that I connect with an Overhub to a 2022 HP Omen. The latter is a gaming pc and has usb 3.0 for every USB A port.
When recording using Overbridge through ASIO I hear a lot of pops, crackle and hisses. I fixed that somewhat by choosing the highest latency (but still an occassional pop). Also, the recording volume is superlow and I had to add +15db through Utility in Ableton Live to arrive at a normal volume.

To me it seems something is off, what do you guys think?

I don’t know enough about this to do troubleshooting so any suggestions on how to approach fixing this is welcome!

I’ve not used Overbridge in years, but it’s sounds like a sample rate mismatch issue with those noises.

And welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome  ok check Ill investigate any differences in sample rate between Ableton and Overbridge settings. Some suggestion on the volume thing, too, or is it normal to record at about -15db?

I have the same problem on DN II. DT II and ST work fine. It seems to be some kind of hardware defect. The build quality of Elektron in recent years has been very disappointing.

I have no problems with volume so might be something wrong there. If I remember correctly there is an option in Digitakt settings to boost usb audio by +10 and I have that enabled. Don’t know if it affects OB though.
Couple of cracks happened but I noodled with the OB engine settings and they haven’t since.

I find the Digitakt II ASIO driver to be low latency but puts a high load on CPU, so I often use either FL studio’s ASIO driver, Steinberg’s ASIO driver or ASIO4ALL when I’m recording as they’re way less prone to pops/cracks. They all work with overbridge.

I have had super low also with DT2 and OB, in Reaper. Been trying out all kinds of things, and one way was to tweak the OB mixer (which partly (?) affects the individual mixers of the tracks in DT2 though so that can mess up the song).
But then I also got a brand new song to work a bit better, with factory settings
So I feel this is 50/50 : user error / complicated OB and DAW issue
Also found that one pattern were quieter than another, even when the mixer settings of both tracks were 100% same…

I fixed almost all the pops and cracks by in the Overbridge Control Panel selection the largest buffer sizes and the most relaxed driver performance mode (at the cost of latency, which i did not need because I only record). The Digitakt II Audio Capture tool has a slightly higher recording volume than I got with Ableton Live Lite or the windows recording tool and needs about +5db or so that is nice improvement

Thanks for the suggestion. If you can help me with the boost that would be appreciated; the only boost I can find is to boost the USB in audio to main (and I would need the other way around)

That was error on my part, there is no such option indeed.
You can always add Utility plugin to boost the audio but I haven’t felt the need to ever boost it. Proper gain staging for plugins to operate well suggests hitting the tracks around -18dB averaged and at least I get plenty more than that without boosting the gain. How much are you getting?

About that level, -18db. In my case it is a finished song so would be helpful to boost it a bit more but Utility from Ableton worked well the first time I tried
