Digitakt II – Track 1 not triggering + double trigger issue when connected to Logic (USB/audio setup)

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a strange issue with my Digitakt II that only appears when it is connected to Logic Pro on my Mac.

DT2 and Logic Pro are connected via USB (MIDI) and also audio cables (interface recording).

Problem:

When Logic is open and connected:

  • On startup of Logic the kick on Track 1 is triggered.
  • Then Track 1 (kick) does not trigger from the sequencer
  • No trig LEDs light up for Track 1 during playback
  • Manually pressing Trig 1 produces double triggering (sound on press and again on release)
  • The issue affects all projects only on Track 1
  • Other tracks may appear unaffected, but Track 1 consistently misbehaves

Important observations:

  • Clock sync is OFF on both Logic and Digitakt
  • No tracks are muted or disabled
  • The issue only appears when Logic is open and USB is connected
  • When creating a new track in Logic only using the interface in the set up issue persists
  • Disconnecting USB + restarting the Digitakt immediately fixes the issue
  • This setup worked normally before—this behavior is new

Summary:

It seems like Logic is interfering with the Digitakt’s internal state when connected via USB, even without using MIDI sync or MIDI tracks. It feels like a USB/MIDI handshake or device state issue that affects Track 1 specifically.

Has anyone experienced similar behaviour or found a stable setup for using Digitakt II with Logic via USB + audio without these issues?

Thanks in advance!

What happens if you change the MIDI channel for track 1 to something different? What happens if you change the MIDI channel for any other track besides track 1 to MIDI channel 1?

Does the problem follow whichever track is assigned MIDI channel 1?
