Digitakt : External battery / Power pack options?

If you’ve followed any recent news of Elektron you can imagine they will not be so keen on releasing something like this in the near future.

I don’t think we really need this either (from Elektron). The Model series are perfectly portable with any USB powerbank, the digitone and digitakt are small but are not really designed for battery power (hence the 1A requirement).

You mean the power handle recall? Yes I just read that today. Obviously I have no idea about how difficult of a task it can be. But if there’s someone to make this happen, that’s Elektron.

Hey guys ,
i recently bought this battery:

HETP Powerbank 26800mAh - Schnellladung PD Ladegerät【Quick Charge 3.0 Power Delivery】 Externer Akku Pack 3-Ausgang & 2-Eingang Type-C Power Bank für Telefone Tablets und mehr [18W PD QC 3.0] HETP Powerbank 26800mAh - Schnellladung PD Ladegerät【Quick Charge 3.0 Power Delivery】 Externer Akku Pack 3-Ausgang & 2-Eingang Type-C Power Bank für Telefone Tablets und mehr: Amazon.de: Elektronik & Foto

including this cable:

Newding USB Kabel auf 5V DC… https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07PNL566F?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

But the Digitakt (and Digitone) doesn’t power on. I also tried it on the Model: Cycle on both inputs, and it worked perfect.

Any suggestions what’s going here?

It needs 12v, you can use a step up converter to turn that 5volt into 12v. Very cheap if you can solder and slightly more expensive to buy a ready made on. There are 5v -> 12v volt usb cables with a dc barrel jack on one end that goes directly into the machine you want to power. Make sure the converter can handle at least 1amp or else you might not be able to turn it on. It will run on less but requires a little kick to boot up.

Okay got it! Thank you

Just a thought:
a hack solution that might be worth trying is taping a slim powerbank on the inside of the deck saver

Then cutting a small duct in the deck saver so the usb to 12v cable can go into the DT/DN when the DT/DN sits in the decksaver in use?

Makes sense? Apart from the cutting a pricey decksaver and having to really taping the powerbank in place it should be simple and highly portable

Hi guys, need to bump this

Has anyone a solution to provide battery to a DT and an octatrack mki? I’ve been reading lot of people using powerbanks with 2A while octa’s PSU says clearly it needs 3A also 6V is not the best common voltage

Also while the DT needs 12v and 1A I assume that a device with 3A won’t hurts my DT at all, am I right? I don’t have any idea about electricity tbh

I have a 12v output power bank an a splitter cable which allows to power both devices (DT+OTmkw) for hours . Had no problems and my power bank would allow up to 3 Elektron devices

More Amperes doesn’t hurt your device as long as the Volts are right .

OT mkii I guess? Both mkii and DT use the same PSU, octa mki runs at different voltage 6V and 3a

Oh my fault ! I forgot that the mk1 has a 6V 3A. I have the OTmk2

6V and 12V lead-acid battery is a common thing.

don’t worry, thank you anyway

yep but all I’m seeing are 2V, still in search
I’ll be back if I found something

There is a way to DIY a power bank with 6V and 3A just some soldering skills required

Hi everybody, first please excuse my poor english…:grimacing:

I Want to take the combo Digitone and Digitakt outside and I would like to know witch power battery would be the best for use both of the devices for a long Time ( I wanna Travel with bike with this setup and sleep in a tent in beautiful spots and everything…).

I see someone here talking about the omnicharge, would it be a great choice for me ?

In a second Time I would like to know to how to record both of the units in my zoom H4N pro. Does it need a passive mixer or something ? IS there some without power needed in this case ?

If you’ve already had some similar expériences or simple some answers for me it would be very kind !

Have a beautiful day guys ! :v:t2::seedling:

For the electric side of the questions, no idea, but to mix it, it seems pointless to me, you can leave the Dn in the Dt and mix it quietly in the input options of the Dt. The compressor is yours. You come out of the Dt and enter the zoom, to exit with the helmet. (remember to bring a few extra batteries).

Hi Simon, first of all ty for the post, what do you mean by mix the DN in the DT, I would like to use both at the same time like in the studio. Could you please tell me more about that or give me a link for a vids or something to understand better what you mean ?

Once again thank you.

You’re welcome.
If you do Function + Lfo 3 times on the Dt,
this takes you to the “External Mixer” page (page 3 of 3)
where you can adjust the input volume, pan and effects for both inputs.
This allows you to add the audio stream of the Dn to that of the Dt and record it all on your zoom.
In addition, the Dt offers a very nice compressor, Function + Lfo (page 1 of 1).
Of course you can use a mixer, some passives exist:

But you have it all with Dn and Dt to do it all, Elektron magic.
