Hey there Elektronauts!
I currently have my DT synced to my DN and have now acquired a new BlackBox …
I’m wondering how to sync successfully?
My DT is the clock and send master to the DN
DT Midi Out > DN Midi In
Now what?
Thanks for any clarifying

Few different ways. One can be getting a midi y cable and sending midi to both boxes without using the through out on the DN (which is another option). After that make sure you have the Dt sending clock and DN accepting in the settings. Also decide what midi channels you want everything to be. You can choose individual midi on the Blackbox per pad (I think…). Do the same with the DN (1-4 and Blackbox 5-16, disable the DNs other midi channels options, unless you’d rather keep them). Those midi Y cables come in real handy. I’ve got a few of them hanging on the wall of wires.
Hope that helps.

So it’s …
3.5mm Midi Out from the BlackBox
into DN Midi Thru ?
Select Midi Channels to preference.
I’ll post a YouTube link to how I’ve got the DT and DN synced so you can see the Midi Channel setup - cause the DT uses the 9-12 Midi Channels to mute the 1-4 Tracks on the DN …
Here see how I’ve setup my DT and DN
Midi Y cables should not really be used - yes they might work fine but it is not compliant with the midi spec to use them. Much better to go out>in>thru>in.
Midi is a current loop, the LEDs inside the optoisolator require 5ma to work reliably, splitting the signal using a Y cable means that each LED won’t get the full 5ma, this could give dropped signals - stuck notes, missing clock pulses etc.

Things are happening!
So best to stick with the 3.5mm to 5Pin Midi Female small cable that was supplied with the BlackBox contents;
and then connect a Male 5Pin Midi to use as a bridge between and into DN > Thru Midi …
I’m learning things … it’s syncing but depending on what loops or songs are loaded from the BlackBox default SDcard libraries …
Still navigating my way round the BlackBox’s menu’s etc to find time signatures, bars and tempo settings …
Huh. That makes sense. Haven’t experienced any of those problems myself, but sounds like I should consider myself lucky. Thanks for the enlightenment.
I’m glad you’re getting everything figured out.

The Blackbox is pretty simple with it’s menu diving. You’ll have it mastered in no time.
If you go with this setup, I’d change the input volumes on the DN! I used his guide at first and then realised how noisy it was. I think unity gain is around 27/28 - NOT 100!

The Chorus is what’s really noisy. I’ve had to adjust levels a few times because of it. Sure is a sweet sounding chorus though.

I’ve not used the chorus to be honest, well, not on the inputs.
