I have a Digitakt and a Minilogue, and I’m looking to add some sounds to my projects on the Digitakt. I was thinking it could be cool to use the Digitakt as a MIDI controller to play and sequence additional virtual instruments in Logic for “live performances”, but I seem to be running into problems with getting the systems to talk to each other and sync properly.
I’ve got Logic acting as clock, plugged into the DT via USB with Overbridge. Then, I’ve got DT > Minilogue via MIDI. The Minilogue notes are sequenced on the DT.
The problems I’m running into are:
- Even though I have the minilogue on a random channel (13), the sequenced notes seem to be playing both on the Minilogue as well as the new virtual instrument i’m trying to play on my computer, even when the VST is set to a different channel
- in some cases, when I try to record midi notes on logic, they’re being double played over each other
Has anyone else done this? I’m wondering if I’m complicating things a bit more than necessary with both the midi and USB cables. I guess I could just sequence the minilogue in Logic, but that kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a Digitakt, no? Also, I know I can sample VST synth sounds but that’s not as fun either
