Digitakt as a slave drum machine

Hi,
I would like very much to use it as a slave drum machine with my own samples. The problem is, my sequencer outputs different notes for each instrument on a single MIDI channel. But the Digitakt has an instrument (sound) per track. So I need to map each note to a particular track. I probably can assign all tracks to a single MIDI channel but I don’t see how to make a track a) to respond to a particular note and b) not chromatically. Any ideas?

See section 8.4 of the Digitakt manual; the DT can play its 8 sounds in response to MIDI notes 0 to 7 on any MIDI channel.

Thanks, I will definitely try that. The manual did not say the MIDI channel did not matter. The other way would be to trigger a pattern by a program change but all drum patterns would have to be programmed on Digitakt of course.
