Digitakt + Arturia Keystep + Minilogue + Roland SH09

I’m trying to figure out how to connect my Digitakt to multiple synths and an Arturia Keystep.

So far I have my SH09 — Doepfer MIDI to CV converter – MIDI In – MIDI Out on my Digitakt. Then I have my Keystep MIDI Out – MIDI In on my Digitakt. I can use the digitakt’s sequencer this way and not the keystep’s, which is fine, but would be nice to mess with the Arp mode? maybe I can’t?

Now I have my Minilogue and I’d like to play notes on / maybe use the on board sequencer but have everything in sync. So not sure whether I need to buy another MIDI cable (only have 2 currently) and plug it into either the Doepfer (has thru) or the Keystep? Or just use the sync inputs from the Minilogue — Keystep? In / Out?

I wouldn’t know how to use a doepfer midi cv converter or why u would need it for this set up.

I think I would go for keystep into the digitakt, digitakt midi out1 to Minilogue and Sh09. just daisy chain should work.

Thanks, the Doepfer is for my SH09 that doesn’t have MIDI. So it’s either In / Thru on the Doepfer -> SH09.

Couldnt you put it like keystep into digitakt into minilogue into doepfer into sh09?

To use the arp from the keystep, the keystep needs to be master tempo

I have a similar setup, where I have a keystep that goes in the digitakt to a korg monologue. I set the digitakt as master (don’t receive sync in), which I use to sequence the monologue, and the monologue sync out goes to the keystep for the arpeggiator or sequencer. This works only if the monologue has a sequence playing, but I usually play an empty sequence, because I use the digitakt to sequence the monologue anyway.

The thing I would add is a midi thru box right after the digitakt so you can control multiple synths, and sequence them from the digitakt while still being able to play everything from the keystep.

I have a very similar setup you might want to consider:

Keystep MIDI IN to Digitakt

Digitakt MIDI OUT to a MIDI Splitter

Splitter to Minilogue (set to MIDI Channel 1), Roland (set to MIDI Channel 2)

Set your Keystep to MIDI Channel 14

Now your Keystep will serve as a controller for any channel you select on the Digitakt.

great advice! will try this with a midi splitter. Maybe something like the Quadra Thru?

Yes, I do this with a midi keyboard into my Monomachine (keyboard set to the auto channel on the MM) and the midi out from the MM into a QuadraThru and then in to everything else. Works perfectly.
