Digitakt 3 years in: where next on OS developments?

There is still some bugs like, mute and unmute more than 3 tracks at the same time not works well and a few more. It would be nice an update to solve bugs .

What are the “few more” bugs that still need solving that you’ve encountered?

Some bad behavior of tracks that contain sounds, and trigs, but without explanation it doesn’t sounds.
For example the last day i was playing with my DT, and the channel 7 it doesn’t play any sound but all was unmute and the sound it should to be played. I think that sometimes one pattern get this bug, it is not the first time that i have this problem.

And sometimes i have bugs with triggers conditions on tracks with a number of steps different to 16/32/48/64 like it works in an oddly way.

Could it be that you had accidentally activated one of the mute modes on track 7 without realizing it, and when checking your mutes you saw that all tracks were unmuted while without your knowledge it was muted in the other mute mode? Or that there is a trig on that track which is continuing to “sound” due to one parameter or another for an infinite or very long length or time, which causes any subsequent trigs to not sound?

With trig conditions and tracks with nonstandard length, could it be that your per-track and channel setting are configured in a way that causes it to not behave like you expect, but is not a bug necessarily?

I see these two things brought up regularly, and they seem to often be user error. Not saying it’s necessarily so. Maybe there is a bug causing these behaviors, but I have never encountered either.

Yeah I don’t think MK2 is really the way for he DT, I could see some updates coming that offer different flavors of various features already in it by as you say it is probably close to maxed out… a lot of feature that came to the Digitone in the keys update seem like they could/should come to the Digitakt in some way. I could see a Digitakt pads or pad if they wanted to go for a large hand drum style pad and new features coming in that way as well but people mostly dislike the Elektron pads so I am unsure if that would be a wise move, but if Digitakt had a cool hand drum on the side I would be getting in line, toss in 8 outputs, maybe audio routing for the compressor on an input which might need to be an actual hardware audio routing change, a few new macro knobs and some new routing options for velocity. Elektron doesn’t like to kill old products so a pure power boost is almost definitely not in the cards, anything that needs more power will almost definitely be a totally new product.

The first point, definitely not. I have a long time with the machine, and I think that I know it pretty well. I just sounded very arrogant hahaha sorry, but seriously I have check it and should sound but doesnt. It is something that doesn’t happen quite often but the problem still there. Sometimes if I press the button of the track, the sample starts to reproduce and later starts to work fine reproducing all the trigs; it is very strange

The second point, probably you’re right and could be my fault because i don’t know well how the machine works with trigs conditions and polyrhytmics relationship

Is the Program Change bug still a thing when Digitakt runs an extra round before changing the pattern?

The only thing is missing on the DT is this TRIG+YES feature.

I borrowed a Digitakt for a while last year. It beat my Electribe Sampler in having more RAM and a nice way to have a decent sample library stored internally. Ultimately, I gave it back. I preferred the Electribe for its much wider range of effects (even though the quality of the insert effects isn’t great) and its stereo sample handling capability.
I don’t care about Overbridge. For the Digitakt to attract me it would need to add some cool new way to process samples, or grab some of the effects from the OT catalogue.

which electribe?

Does an electribe have conditional trigs? Never used one.

No. Fortunately mine is controlled by something that does.

or maybe this was happening to you?

Stereo monitoring so I can use master comp on Digitone too and real side chain capabilities are the only things on my wish list.
Great machine despite those though!

sounds like you would love the OT

And base filter (simple EQ) on each track

I already own an OT, was in fact my first Elektron machine.
it’s completely different in terms of both workflow and sound - I enjoy much more to create beats with the DT

There is literally a bug report thread come on…

I was asking which ones they have encountered specifically, my comment was clear, come on…

The purpose of my question was that sometimes people think things are bugs, when they just don’t understand the behavior. I offered suggestions after they responded to hopefully solve their problems or give them some insight. Come on…

Nice, yes I think this is likely what they were encountering! Good work.
