Digitakt 2 - Using Trigless Trigs with FIll to "throw" Delay Send (DUB style)

Ok I’ve been wanting to achieve something that seems so simple to me since Digitakt v1 but I cannot get it work exactly how I want.

I’m doing live “dub” stuff and want to be able to use the FILL button to “throw” the Delay Send whenever I want. I’m fine having it happen to every track at once - the main disconnect that I am facing is that I can set up a Trigless Trig (Yellow) to PLock the Delay Send, but the extra step where it only “throws” the Send amount when I hold FILL never seems to work. I always want the actual regular steps to fire, but whenever I try and tie the Trigless Delay Send Trig to the FILL button, the step itself (Red) then is Muted until I hit FILL.

Is what I am trying to do only possible by using an empty additional track?

Just to be sure:

Step 1 no delay, no trig condition
Step 2 functional trig, delay send, fill condition

And of course you are microtiming the 2nd step to leftmost position?
