Hi all, first post here, but a repost from reddit, here.
I have the Digitakt set to output to my mixing panel, but also receive mixing panel audio (for sampling an external device that is connected to the mixing panel).
This causes a feedback loop, if the monitoring outputs that signal again. I am confused about the MON function. As the manual (Digitakt 1.10a) states:
13.2 SAMPLING AUDIO
- If you use an external audio source, connect it to the Digitakt II.
- Press [SAMPLING] to access the SAMPLING menu and then use DATA ENTRY knob A to set SRC to
your preferred audio input source.
- Keep an eye on the input level meter and play the audio source and make sure that the volume of the
audio source is as strong as possible, but without clipping or distorting. Set MON to YES to monitor
the incoming audio through the Digitakt II (available if you sample from an external source).
This is the digitakt 2 manual, page 69, here: https://www.elektron.se/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Digitakt-2-User-Manual_ENG_OS1.10A_250415.pdf
There is no MON option for yes. It is either PRE MIX, or POST MIX. I know POST MIX sends it though effects, and I have set that level in the mixer to 0. I just want to make sure I am doing it right so that I can’t accidentally create a feedback loop. Also I want this to be the default for new songs as I want monitoring off for the majority of time that I am using my DT2 in this setup.
Any tips / suggestions?

If you want to play something from the DT2, put that trought effects and stuff per a Mixer, and sample that in the DT2, you have to set your MON to post-mix, but set the volume of the Input-Signal to 0. You have to “monitor” your signal you want to sample per the Mixer you are using, but that is no problem there are possible routings for this, depends on how you set up your mixer and stuff.
I´ve read here that using Audio per USB there are other solutions. But with pure analog Audio its like i described.

With elektron gear, any configuration which you want as your default which is not already an option in the personalization menu needs to be stored as part of a template project which you can save and then lock so that it can’t be modified.
Copy that project and start new ones as a save of the duplicate so all your preferred midi or audio routings are already set up in the way that you want them, otherwise most settings will be per project and some per pattern.
Hi, no this is the routing:
- Digitakt 2 IN - Yamaha AG06 (mixing panel), stereo out from mixing panel
- Digitakt 2 OUT - Yamaha AG06 (input)
- SP404 OUT - Yamaha AG06 (input)
- PC out - Yamaha AG06
So I want to sample mainly into the SP404, mangle the sound (from ableton, or any other sound), sample this into the digitakt 2 for beatmaking. So, from PC to SP404, mangle and chop, sample into Digitakt 2
The POST MIX seems to work, but I am wondering if I am doing it right, not sure if there are other options regarding keeping monitoring off.
Ok thanks, that is a neat trick, I didn’t knew about this. That will make sure that my POST MIX is always set, so no worries about feedback loops
