Digitakt 2: can’t hear sample preview

Hi all,

I can’t hear sample previews anymore when I use FUNCTION+YES. Anyone else has the same problem? Tips how to fix this?

Cheers

In the manual it says you can use the track voice of the active track with func+yes to preview the highlighted sample but you have to make sure to select an audio track first. A little different than DT1 but maybe it’s the selecting an audio track first which is preventing you from hearing the sample?

If that doesn’t work, try things like a different sample, different pattern, different project, restart the machine etc. Just basic stuff to establish that it’s actually a bug and not a glitch.

Let me know if that doesn’t work for you and I’ll try to figure it out but, in that event, make sure to tell me what you’ve already tried so that it’s easier to move forward.

Have you tried pressing Track + Clear then selecting the sample again? Sometimes I forget that either the amp envelope isn’t long enough to hear the sample or the start point is set to a point after most samples have any waveform?

So , so , soooo , so many , so many many many people post this issue both for digitakt 1 and 2 … and perhaps analog rytm 2
For years
Many many years
And many years to come

Perhaps it could be fixed
When swapping to sampling mode - store the current settings of the track .

If someone presses preview - the details are replaced with defaults for hearing ( unmuting track , etc etc )

Once play has stopped / user leaves sampling mode - restore default/actual track settings ?

Just an idea - I’m sure there’s a more elegant solution.

I’m going to mute this now but I guarantee it’ll pop up again in the next few weeks.

Im connected with USB to ableton and listen via ableton.

When i press function + samples to browse the library, and I want to prelisten, nothing happens…

I do can prelisten via headphone out, but not via USB. Anyone knows how i can route this through USB?

@sezare56 is this a limitation of USB audio? are only audio tracks monitored, not sample preview? or is this an internal routing issue? ever had to deal with it? I don’t know the answer.

he hears it in the headphones out of the DT2 directly, but not through the DAW. So the sample preview is playing, only it’s not audible via USB audio monitoring.

For now I mostly used USB In, not Out. But I bought an iPhone recently, will try later.

@Humanprogram may shime in.

Pretty sure this is a known bug or not-yet-implemented feature, the sample preview via USB audio being turned off. (The DT 2 1.02 Bugs thread is a mess of off-topic complaints and user errors, but it’s in there somewhere.)

Thanks for checking, and sorry not to be of help. I tend not to work connected to a computer.

Me too. I just tested with Audacity (Windows 11).
Preview works with USB Audio.
(Preset Pool, sample directories)

Did you check your USB routing ?
AUDIO ROUTING > USB OUT = MAIN

SYSTEM > USB CONFIG > USB AUDIO/MIDI

Digitakt recognized by Ableton ?

I just had to update! thanks folks

I am routing Synth through Ableton -> Digitakt 2 to Sample Recorder. It gets received, but unable to Monitor (Mon = N/A) while playing/recording.
I can listen back to what I (silently) recorded using FUNC+Y.

I have the exact same issue, except I’m routing VSTs thought Kontakt 8.

Tested with SYSTEM > USB CFG set to OVERBRIDGE and USB AUDIO/MIDI.

AUDIO ROUTING > USB OUT shows n/a and cannot be changed with USB CFG set to OVERBRIDGE. With USB CFG set to AUDIO/MIDI mode, AUDIO ROUTING is set to MAIN. But neither of these settings make any difference; monitoring when sampling still doesn’t work.
