Hi, i have OT, A4 and RYTM (all mk2’s) and I’m looking into getting a DFAM. I see people here talking about how you could both connect it to the OT and A4. What would be best and why? Some ppl also suggest the Arturia Keystep/Beatstep.
I’m new to the CV world so any advice would be highly appreciated.
Out of the box, the A4 can deliver CV and gate.
There a lots of small boxes that can convert midi to cv/gate - like the Korg SQ-1.
But if you acquire the A4 to be able to control the DFAM…hmm, the A4 can do really great drums by itself.
Another option would be to sample the DFAM into a Digitakt or Octatrack.
Have fun
Cheers
Thomas
Super quick to set up the A4 for controlling tempo - and im sure other sequencing tricks ive yet to try. If youre recording both in a blend those are a very comprehensive drum solution. Im sure the kind of things the dfam produces will make superb OT material also.
thanks guys for your words. yeah @Grim_Erland i will play all at once A4/octa/Rytm and now DFAM. Octa will play a good roll to record loops from DFAM for future use. I’m a techno guy so the 8-step sequence on the DFAM is what gets me excited.
BTW @Grim_Erland - what cables would i need to connect the DFAM to A4?
And what if i wanted to connect the DFAM to OT? How would that work?
If im not mistaken i simply run a 1/4 inch jack out of A4s CVA that has a minijack/CV at the other end. Goes into the dfam adv/clock. Connecting to OT could mean several things - to record? If you mean to control dfam then some midi to CV converter if such a thing exists, or click track out of the cue is supposedly possible.
click track out of the cue is possible, I use it regularly. As I said in a previous thread, experimenting with tempo by sending clicks in irregular intervals can produce interesting rhythmic results

So many cool things to try, so little time…
