Desk/cable management

So I am thinking about creating a small studio desk (100cm x 80 cm) for my gear (Microfreak, M:S, Blackbox, Neutron, Elmyra, a small mixer and some leftover GAS-space)

I want it to look as clean as possible,

When i see pictures like this  I often think: where are all the cables?

So looking for ideas and inspiration concerning stand and clever ideas to manage all the cable clutter.

It’s a never ending battle. Cables will always win no matter how hard you try.

I tried quite hard but eventually I got tired. Here’s the bottom of my desk:

Got these from Ikea. Changing cables is a pain, but at least there are no visible cables below my desk.

I have 3 holes across my desk where all my cables are routed to:

Curious: what’s the view from the front?

It looks clean. If you look at it from above it’s quite messy though. Nothing I can do about it.

Well that picture was obviously taken by an absolute rotter who took it before plugging in all the cables.
I bet it looks like an old lady’s perm in there once it’s all cabled up.

Very nice! Also have to keep it tidy looking on both sides!

This is my situation. This alcove will get cleared out and then the magic has to happen.

Was going to recommend. Use the exact same solution under my desk. It can be a pain, but it keeps everything very neat looking.

if you’re going to do the handy work of making a desk you might enjoy DIYing all the cabling as well.

also, in reality, I’ve sacrificed some cabling “neatness” for audio performance. this might be taken for granted in some of the setups you’ve seen.

edit: what’s the width of that alcove?

If it’s staying like that with the three shelves you could put a false wall over the vertical shelf rails and run the cabling behind. Cut knock out in the bottom of each board and use two screws to secure to the rails for easy change up. Cabling is an art unless you can hide it behind a wall then who cares.

You’ll need to reactivate your GAS and buy OB gear.

Two left hands, so I am gonna try ready made as much as I can.
The width is 100cm (1 metre)

I am afraid I am not born for diy, but I really want it done proper (maybe some nice wooden table or desk), so the shelfs have to go. The Ikea cable thing is a good idea, and I will probably get some stand for on the table/desk. I would prefer onne big stand where I can lay cables under/in/behind.
