So I am thinking about creating a small studio desk (100cm x 80 cm) for my gear (Microfreak, M:S, Blackbox, Neutron, Elmyra, a small mixer and some leftover GAS-space)
I want it to look as clean as possible,
When i see pictures like this I often think: where are all the cables?
Well that picture was obviously taken by an absolute rotter who took it before plugging in all the cables.
I bet it looks like an old lady’s perm in there once it’s all cabled up.
if you’re going to do the handy work of making a desk you might enjoy DIYing all the cabling as well.
also, in reality, I’ve sacrificed some cabling “neatness” for audio performance. this might be taken for granted in some of the setups you’ve seen.
If it’s staying like that with the three shelves you could put a false wall over the vertical shelf rails and run the cabling behind. Cut knock out in the bottom of each board and use two screws to secure to the rails for easy change up. Cabling is an art unless you can hide it behind a wall then who cares.
Two left hands, so I am gonna try ready made as much as I can.
The width is 100cm (1 metre)
I am afraid I am not born for diy, but I really want it done proper (maybe some nice wooden table or desk), so the shelfs have to go. The Ikea cable thing is a good idea, and I will probably get some stand for on the table/desk. I would prefer onne big stand where I can lay cables under/in/behind.
