I’m not sure where to post this so move if already discussed…
When in live recording mode if I record a sequence and I’m not happy with it,
If I want to delete it and try again I have to exit live recording hit record then delete then exit then go back into live recording… wouldn’t it be better if you could delete the currently selected track instead of the whole sequence from live recording mode?
This is kinda a feature request though it applies to all Elektron gear…
Maybe there is a reason for this being clear whole sequence?
You have to press rec, then func+ clear then rec + play to get back.
Why not just function + clear to clear selected track without leaving live rec mode?
I’ve always found this odd, it just seems like it would be a workflow improvement
Less faffing about to re-do a live recording.
Think you would find it better if it was like that, and forget the old way after a week.
they have been improving and have changed heaps since I bought my setup.
Improvement is always welcome in my book
Yeah you’re right, in terms of UX it doesn’t make sense for the FUNC+PLAY combination to delete the entire pattern, considering the context is recording to the active track. It’s likely an overlooked bug.
You can record to any track using a specific midi channel, instead of auto channel.
so it’s possible to record into a track that is not selected…
But I still think it would be easier to just select the track the hit function + clear
to clear the selected track while still in live recording mode rather than clear all tracks…
And I would assume most people use the auto channel because of convenience…
Actually yeah that is a good point. Especially if you’re using the pads to record. In that case it would indeed be more appropriate to have that combination clear every track.
Maybe on the Rytm… But let’s be honest who jams the whole performance with all pads each time? is this the only scenario it would be better?
in the case of using all the pads capturing a performance you can still exit and delete as you have to now for a single track…
I had already thought of other scenarios and I use live recording a lot recently
and find it puts me off having to do the button combos to re-do a take…
If you have previously used the Save Ptn Feature (Func + Yes) before recording, then pressing Func + No will Erase your newly recorded Sequence and you will still be in Live Recording Mode.
Great idea! I will try this see if helps my workflow with live recording.
The analogs have the reload pattern as well I’ve never really used I will check out…
But I still probably would prefer if in live recording it deletes selected track trigs
On certain boxes the current implementation makes sense as all the tracks can be input simultaneously in live record mode. The digitakt, rytm, and models. But on other boxes for instance like the Monomachine or a4 where your working within a single track another implimenration like only clearing the active track would make sense instead.
Let’s say you have recorded a Filter Cutoff sweep (yellow Trigs) but are not happy with the result. While in Live Recording Mode, you hold No and press the Cutoff Encoder for the whole Sequence (or for the part you don’t like). Now, the yellow Trigs are gone. Of course you can stop the Recording and remove them manually.
I use the auto channel in most cases for recording on all the elektron gear I have,
and think it still would be better to delete selected track trigs,
if you do want to delete all trigs you could still exit live recording then delete all…
