Deleting (Sample) Recordings From Sample Slots on Octatrack

I have roughly eight (8) sample recordings on my OT, resulting from failed attempts at sampling. Is there a way to delete them, either via the OT directly or USB with the computer? I searched the manual and this forum for an answer, to no avail (unless I completely missed it). Thanks in advance. :upside_down_face:

You can clear the slots (Fn+Play).
Power cycle, project change, go to file manafer and they’ll be cleared.
You can also leave them and overwrite them, they won’t be kept unless you save them.

[FN+Play] clears pattern; is there something else that needs to go along with that, some other keystroke?

How do I get to file manager? How do I overwrite them? Am I given a choice when I go to save a sample?

You have to be in the sample slot list (double clic a track button), use Fn+Play above the slot you want to clear.

Forget file manager for the moment. You can overwrite by recording again.

In REC SETUP 1, you have the choice between SAVE AND ASSIGN SAMPLE (it can be assigned to self*, Flex, Static) or SAVE ALL RECORDINGS, automatically assigned to self.
All recordings are saved in AUDIO folder, or project folder (option in PERSONALIZE menu).

*Self : the saved sample is loaded in the recording buffer slot.

Thanks. I will work on this.

You got 8 days left to finish your song.

Maybe, maybe not. LOL! If I can get the OT to record the sample I want (about 1.5 minutes long), I’m still in. Again, I’m reading the manual and watching videos and am still struggling (hence the reason I have all those failed recordings). Maybe you have some clear instructions you can pass along to me. I’d be grateful. :upside_down_face:

When struggling it’s better to start with a new project.
What is your audio source, inputs?
Is your audio source synced?

First of all, for recordings longer than 16 s, you have to set MEMORY CONFIG > DYMAMIC RECORDERS = YES, RESERVE RECORDINGS = NONE

MEMORY CONFIG :
FN+REC1(AB) button = REC SETUP 1
FN+BANK > GO TO MEMORY CONFIG

I was making a test run with my android phone, using a YouTube video, going into input A (single output from phone). I’m not sure about the syncing - my guess is no. I probably need to check the memory config.

In MIXER page, adjust GAIN, peaks just under red led, and increase DIR to hear the signal.

FN+REC button = REC SETUP 1

  • Press Track + REC1 (or RECAB), Grid Recording mode off.
You shoud be able to see the recording cursor moving.
  • Track + REC1 again to stop the recording
  • FN+BANK > SAVE THIS RECORDING
  • Change name if you wish
  • ASSIGN TO STATIC (quite a long sample) or FLEX if you want to mangle a lot with slices

Thanks, @sezare56. I’m going to leave you alone, for now.
