Daw sends clock, a4 sends transport?

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has tried this and got it working?
I tried it with ableton but couldn’t get it to work. Any tips or tricks?
Cheers

Yes,

This appears to work.

On Ableton you must make sure that sync is turned on for the MIDI out port that you’re using.

On the A4 in the MIDI sync settings, you should have Clock Receive ticked, and also Transport Send ticked.

You will need to press play on Ableton in order for the clock to be sent.

When you do, the tempo value will change to say “EXT” and then after pressing stop on Ableton, it will stop showing “EXT” and show the tempo calculated from the clock (you might need to leave it playing for a couple of secs for the tempo to be derived correctly)

To send the transport from the A4, just press Play on the A4’s sequencer controls which should trigger whatever gear you have connected to the A4 MIDI out. If you keep Ableton playing, you will be able to change the tempo on the fly from Ableton and that will be sent right through to the gear you have attached to the MIDI out of the A4.

I tested this with Ableton Live 8, Elektron A4 and triggered the Volca Beats sequencer from the A4.
