DAW plugin routing vst into midi/sysex patch bank

Hi.

I hope this is the right thread to ask this.
I was wondering if there is some sort of tool or plugin for DAWs, in my case Studio One, that allows you to route a VST instrument to a patch bank, which I can then load via MIDI SysEx on Elektron devices?

So my idea is basically feeding different vst instruments into different patch banks and programs within the DAW, so that I can load them from the Syntakt. This would give me the ability to have a project in my DAW with various VST instruments loaded, and the Syntakt would be able to find the right VST instrument based on the SysEx data.

Is that possible somehow?

If the plug-ins are open in your DAW you can probably assign the VST instruments their own program numbers and then, using one or more midi channels, switch instruments from the syntakt via the midi track(s) using program change messages (or bank / program if there are a lot of them).

You’ll have to figure out the setup part of it on your own for your specific daw and plugins but it shouldn’t be difficult. It’s not really a patch bay or whatever you’re thinking though, it’s just program change messages using custom program numbers.
