oh wow. i didnt see that. i cant try out because i finally have a amazing room and been renovating, doing acoustic treatment, diy the tables etc since a couple months. hope i can play with all the new features in a couple if weeks. this is gonna be xmas and birthday in one ^.^
Got a similar situation over here, the wait is painful!
trig conditions and individual “track”- lenghts are implemented and perfectly working in x.20
Haven’t tried the included USR machines yet but a good FM machine would be my top priority along with smooth granular.
The MonoMachine FM+ machines were great. And if possible, the MnM wide stereo noise.
The USR FM machines included with X.20b zip sound v nice. As do all the others!

i’d like to share some more here, but all of a sudden i can;t upload ZIPs or SYX files on this forum. user error or everyone elese experiencing this?
Same here^
Thanks for the chart/overview!
I lately came to a size-limit installing the new USR machines. What size is the dedicated memory inside the MD for machines (memory capacity in kb)? This would help to plan sets of USR machines, befor hitting the limit while doing it.
my unverified calculation is around 59.5 kB per bank.
x.20 I just can’t seem to get “Fill” to work. I understand how to use it, but “Fill” doesn’t happen. I wonder why?
@synqoo probably best to jump on the discord or the main X.20 thread for these type of questions. Machinedrum MDX // MCL
yes you’re right. thanx
Buchla/west coast style wave shaping/folding.
Some beta machines i’m working on:
NFX-RU
NFX-RU is a neighbour saturation and wavefolding effect that takes the preceding track’s audio from gentle colour to heavily folded distortion. DRIV sets the distortion intensity; MIX blends processed and dry audio; OUT sets the final level; and SHAP changes the folds from rounded curves to sharper, more angular shapes. The N2 position supplies a separate sidechain that can animate drive and shape without entering the output. DPTH sets this response: 64 is neutral, lower values pull the sound toward gentler distortion, and higher values push it toward harder folding. REL controls how quickly that movement returns to the resting sound. Smooth parameter ramps support subtle thickening, abrasive percussion, rhythmic distortion and evolving textures.

NFX-GT
NFX-GT is a neighbour gate, envelope follower and sidechain ducker for moving textures. It processes the nearest neighbour’s audio, while KEY chooses that same signal (SELF) or the track two positions back (N2) to control the effect. MODE selects GATE to open above the threshold, FOLL to shape the audio with the key’s envelope, or DUCK to reduce its level when the key becomes active. THR sets detection sensitivity; ATK controls response speed; HOLD keeps the gate open or retains the follower’s peak; REL sets closing or recovery time; DPTH moves from dry audio to the full effect; and SCF reduces bass influence on the detector without filtering the carrier audio. Covers precise chopping, sidechain pumping and gentle rhythmic movement.

SID-AR
SID-AR (will probably rename to SYN-SI) is a SID-style pulse voice and arpeggiator for chip melodies, basslines and rapid chord patterns. PTCH sets the root pitch and register; SHAP selects square, medium or narrow pulse colours; TONE offers DARK, ORIG or BRIT character; and RATE sets the arpeggio’s speed independently of tempo. DEC shapes the whole phrase: 0–126 provide finite decay, while 127 holds its current envelope level as the arpeggio continues. Lowering DEC resumes decay; retriggering restarts the phrase while preserving oscillator phase.
CHRD offers 32 eight-step patterns: MAJ, MIN, SUS2, SUS4, DIM, AUG, DOM7, MIN7, MAJ7, MAJ6, MIN6, ADD9, MAD9 (minor add9), HDIM, DIM7, PWR, MAJ9, MIN9, DOM9, mMA7, SUS7, 69, m69, MA11, m11, 7b9, 7#9, 7#11, AUM7 (augmented major seventh), AUm7 (minor seventh with raised fifth), 4THS and WHOL.
DIR provides 16 modes: NOTE for root-only playing; PATN for written pattern order; UP and DOWN; UPDN and DNUP for alternating runs; IN and OUT for inward/outward movement; UP2 and DN2 for doubled notes; ZIG and ZAG for zigzag movement; PAIR for repeated adjacent pairs; SHUF for a fixed shuffle; RND for random selection each step; and RND2 for random selection every second step. OCT adds up to two octaves above or below the original register, with 64 keeping the original range. NOTE ignores CHRD and OCT, while random modes follow the selected octave progression. Use the MD ENV to shape short plucks, punchy bass or sustained melodic phrases.

edit:sorry those links were broken, now fixed.
So sick. Great idea with the SID-style arp. I will eventually install and try some of these.
A dual Osc engine would be nice. Top row of knobs:
Tune, shape, pwm, decay
Bottom row:
Detune, shape, pwm speed, sync or fm
An simple additive macro osc would also be rad if processing allows, maybe something like 8 partials with pm and am between partials ( higher neighbor affects lower)
One question, i installed all the user machines today together with the new update. Do i understand right that one can only use one set of 16 machines at once or is there a way that all/more then 16 run simultaneously?
I imagine you can only use 16 at a time because the Machinedrum’s architecture is set to 16 different tracks, 1 single machine per track. Should be able to use 16 simultaneously though. I haven’t tried the new X2.0 firmware, therefore I am probably the least reliable source for this information.
as I understand there is max of 16 user machines but they also depend on how much kb in size they are if one or more of the user machines is larger in size u cant fill up the 16 user machines, resulting in less then 100% as they dont fit the memory
in that case for now u cant put them all upon 16 tracks because the memory doenst allow it.
as there is no space left to load them properly. this will result in audio cut out, glitches etc… for now this is still a public preview and a work in progress. it just shows what is possible. hope this helps.
thnks! do people encounter bugs so far? and do you know the discord names of the people officially involved in the project? i am new to the discord thing in general
