Custom MIDI mapping in Ableton

I’m trying to map a fader to control different things depending on its position but I’m having some problems with the chain selector.

I’d like the fader to affect an EQ, for example, only when it’s in its lower third and a different way in the upper third. Theoretically I can do it chaining effects and setting their position and fade in the chain selector but the results are not what I expected.

Finally I have mapped the fader to the EQ and the track level but I can only set the range I want to affect, but not when, depending on the fader position.

Is there another way to set different ranges, zones, etc?

Thanks!

After you turn on mapping and it goes purple once you select what you want control,
Up in top left menu that will open you can set the amounts to get the range

Chains are nice but quite limited, as you’ll now know
If you want different EQ behaviours across the range you’ll have to use multiple chains with their own EQs.
If you want to fit a full EQ sweep into a smaller chain range (e.g. 90-127) then that’s not possible without using a cc range remapper m4l device of some sort (I don’t know of any that could do this)

Yes, that´s how I have it now but that range it´s not enough to get this.

I tried with multiple chains but I get jumps or the cross fading between them is not smooth and results in more dB.

About Max for Live, never used more than an LFO.

Can you break down simply what it is you’re trying to achieve? I can have a go here and see if I have better luck

I want to use only a fader to move the sound in the space, near or far, not only to adjust its level. For that I want different effects to move differently depending on the zone the fader is (compressor, EQ, reverb…)

Ok maybe try out the m4l device MultiMap from this free pack: https://www.ableton.com/en/packs/max-live-essentials/
Map your fader to the main Input dial, and map the 8 params and their ranges to whatever you like.

Great, thanks!
