Does anyone use a service for this?
I’ve asked a company called designacable to make me a couple, are any of you using someone you could recommend?

I have a friend in the UK who used to make custom cables - let me see if he’s still doing so…
Great company to deal with! Have ordered 90% of my cables from them. They tend to answer emails the next day. Best to call them if you need info urgently. Won’t use anyone else if I can help it
They’re also on eBay and Amazon
gentek custom cables are good
Yeah I’ve used Gentek a number of times and been happy with everything I’ve had from them.
I have also used via Amazon. Only one order so far but all as expected and quick.
Just got a Van Damme/Neutrik from them and it seems pretty good, it’s a tricky thing to judge without testing directly. I certainly don’t feel like I’m losing any quality when sampling, as I did before, it’s not shoddy, but it’s hardly the peak of build quality either, can’t complain much for 1m for £12.
I might try that Mogami stuff out, but i’ve been told me that Van Damme should be decent if it’s well put together.
I’ve used Designacable a lot. Their cables have kitted out all the venues I work with, as well as years of use for my own function bands, and my own studio. They’re good! Not always the cheapest. Sometimes their less popular colours or lengths or cable styles can be had cheaper on Amazon, even though they still come from Designacable.
Recently, I’ve been cutting up my studio cables and re-soldering them to custom lengths to limit the cabling mess around my setup, and to save buying morrrre cables. For my own personal uses in future, I might order parts and just solder them all myself like this!
Also, Van Damme / Neutrik is always good You can go Quad core and gold if you want to spend more, but I don’t think they last longer (in fact I think the quad core last less long for constant live use). And I wouldn’t worry about paying more for Mogami.
Saw this and it made me think of this thread:
And it also made me think of this:

A lot will depend on what you’re doing and how much your stressing the cable/connectors. If you’re relatively immobile and aren’t replugging things a lot, it’s much less of a factor. Also given the lengths are reasonably short, there’s a lot less to go wrong inside the cable.
As @esq says, one should be good with Neutrik + Van Damme (or Klotz etc) - and if you treat it well it will last you a long time/be repairable. If you’ve got longer lengths of cable then use the over-under technique to coil when not in use.
In any case, above this price point, the returns diminish rapidly as price increases.
100 times yes! The elbow wrap is so so bad And as you say, if they’re never going to move, there’s less to worry about for sure
I realise that, having said that, the cables on my patchbay are pretty much all cheap thomann sssnake ones!
I got a mixer, so I needed a ton more quickly and just used the Roland Gold/Black Series for most things. They seem pretty decent, very very thick. I guess I’ll be leaving more upgrades on cables for a while now. I’ll probably get some really nice ones to run from the mixer to (new) monitors when I get them though.
The black series RCA cables are amazing, there’s no way they’ll come loose or slide out, they may as well be soldered on…
