I’ve been trying to put something like it together. The melodies are easy. Usually just rolling around on full notes, with an occasional half thrown in for flavor. However, deciding where to put the accompanying chords, and which keys to emphasize with them is the tricky part. I grew up with about 14 years of classical training, but that just means I can play the few pieces that I actually enjoyed. I could never get myself to pay attention to the theory portion.

I’m in the same boat (without the classical training). I would love to do music like this, but can only approximate it at best. I have had to resign myself to keeping it a lot simpler.

Resampled some old unfinished loop and mucked about with it via Ableton Live, SP 404 mk2, SP-16, AS-1. Nothing much but first time I’ve had a play in ages.

Minikorg 700fs for bass and MnM for the melody, sequenced with the OT and run through the OT lo-fi machine and dark reverb (which I think is one of the finest reverbs out there)
