I think that’s the most knobs (147) I’ve ever seen on a single device. Kinda want one even though I’m not a DX7 guy. Could be the reason to finally get that Volca FM ![]()
I wanted to follow up on this one. I think it shows the good consequences crowdfunding can bring.
This project was driven by curiousity, rather than commercial intent.
I think it is safe to say this device would never have come to exist without the opportunity given by a few adventurous backers, and some creative electronic musicians who wanted to experiment with some strange musical electronic equipment.
The KS completed, and you can buy this one of a kind synth, though quantities are low and dwindling, and the cost is more than most can bear.
Well done Telmatronics and backers !!
I’m launching a campaign for Mystrix 2 soon
It’s a portable, wireless, hackable grid device that can be used as a controller, sequencer, chord machine, and more.
I would love to hear what you guys think about it and give me more feedbacks
Cosmolab from Faselunare
This is a rapid prototyping kit, a development environment, for roughing in your first take on a new digital electronic system ( or for hybrids too ). It’s also a way to quickly create a one off system for your use. At core it is an Electrosmith Daisy, a collection of hardware UI parts, and a large collection of basic software systems ready for you to modify and use.
It consists of :
- A mainboard
- Audio interface
- MIDI interface
- CV interface
- Display
- Potentiometers
- Button interface
- Chromatic Keyboard ( One Octave )
On Indiegogo. It is already past the funding threshold.
This is the most interesting Kickstarter I’ve seen in a while. I thought their earlier products were interesting but disliked the lack of tactile controls. This looks very fun to use out of the box, rather mature firmware, and all open source? I don’t need another drum machine, but…
I think the ‘customizable’ part is you can add your own or something? They look like regular encoder stems.
A couple of crowdfunding projects floating out in the Elektronaut Sea :
Campfire from Metal Marshmallow. A contact mic pedal. ( thread )
The four MOSS synths from Ultrapalace, the M0SS-101, M0SS-201, M0SS-309 and the M0SS-416. ( thread #1, thread #2 )
Tembo from Musical Beings
A straight forward five part eight step sampler sequencer, with a physical interface using magnetic “checkers” on a natural wood enclosure. Geared more toward beginners, and younger players with an intuitive but versatile interface.
Correction : There are sixteen steps, done by either flipping a "“checker”, or stacking two.
Schedule to launch on Kickstarter on March 14th or 15th.

ADDED : They’re live on KS now ( a couple of days sooner than i expected ), and they’re selling enormously well. Their target was $50,000 in pledges, and they’re pushing a million with 40 days left. I don’t think i’ve seen another synth product going so far, so fast.
The price is pretty moderate, low enough for people to pledge, but hopefully enough for them to make money. Their delivery date is set to January 2027.
I’m so disappointed to say this, but Saul Williams totally ripped me off with the Neptune Frost Kickstarter. I never got any of my rewards, and it’s the only Kickstarter I’ve ever done where that happened. (Also, from looking a the KS page, it looks like I’m not the only one who never got their rewards.)
He raised almost $200,000 from his fans and based on the KS comments, never sent out any rewards.
The really insulting part, though is Saul sending me emails hyping the project and boasting about it doing well. Okay, if it’s doing so well and you have time to email me about it, you have time to send me my album and mixtape.
I was so excited about this project. I’ve admired Saul Williams since High School. It feels weird to get personally ripped off by one of your heroes.
Wow, I hadn’t heard anything about this but was also a longtime Saul Williams fan. That sucks, I’m sorry dude. Hope he’s somehow able to apologize and make it right but overall just sucks.
About Tembo :
They are pushing $1.5 million now with 38 days left !
ADDED ( March 17th ) : Over $2 million with 34 days left !
ADDED : A few days later, Musical Beings, the company making the Tembo, decided to take control of the situation, and to close this off and to not allow any more pledges to be sold on KS.
This was an enormous run away success. Other companies should take note, and create other products in a similar market space.
Like Now !
( Not to be confused with Drumboy, despite the name. )
Glitch Boy from Melted Electronics
Glitchable NES-compatible game machine, and a synth, all in one.
Live and already funded on KS.
It is a MIDI controllable game machine, so you can play with your own MIDI controller – Nice Idea !
A four voice chiptune synth included. You can also MIDI control ( even with a sequencer ) the glitching. CV controls too. This is available with a choice of a stand-alone or a Eurorack version.
Not clear to me if you can glitch the Chiptune synth, or only the games, though there looks to be a way to have input audio cause glitches.
This might be an interesting ( additional ) alternative way to do videos for your performance.
