Creative Software Mangling Samplers

I didn’t really gel with PAM. Maybe another time

But I got HY Slicer 2 and AudioMap Mini, both awesome and exactly what I was searching for. And cheap

HY Slicer 2 is on sale at Pluginboutique and under the Mini video you can find a code that takes 10% of from 35 bucks

I can also recommend these two

This has honestly become my favorite thread on Elektronauts. So many cool things in here. Slightly overwhelmed by the options (as I have too many software tools already) but really excited about a couple of these.

Could you share the source of this info?
I would be really sad if its true.

that’s good news, I’m gonna hold out for a bit and see what happens, lord knows I got enough to keep me busy

yep, everyone took the rc-20 playbook and ran with it, but if It’s good I don’t mind… xln should be proud

The price of this just seems silly to me for some reason. I’m not paying $89 or $129 when the sale ends for drum bus plugin I can pretty easily recreate in Ableton. I say this a huge fan in general of XLN stuff.

what was it turned you off about it, looking to check it out when time permits?

oh shit!

Can PAM host other plugins?

Yes — every PAM cell can host a VST3, AU, or CLAP instrument, and the cell FX chain can host a VST3, AU, or CLAP effect. Enable Plugin Host in Settings (Experimental), then right-click a cell to load an instrument or use the FX toolbar’s + FX slot for an effect. Hosted instruments sum with the cell’s sampler and drum synth, and hosted plugin parameters are modulation targets for PAM’s LFOs / envelopes / Vary / ParamSeqs (macros and XY pads don’t route to hosted-plugin params). Custom scan paths and per-format toggles live under Settings → Plugin Host

For crazy FX I like Mooger Fooger (Mac, PC, & iOS) and Cable Guys Shaper Box.

It did not turn me off, it was just not what I needed

I wrote a few posts before in this thread:

It’s supposed to be a lil more than just an experimental sampler, actually an all-in-one live environment. There is also a video module already integrated. The creator has an algorave background, so this makes sense.

But it goes into a direction I wasn’t really interested in, as I have build my own environment (Max+Unity). Still, I think it will be more sophisticated than anything I would ever build and the UI looks great to me, personally.

I realized after playing with this that I should rather concentrate on building my own tool for live play. I did two gigs with my Max+Unity environment, which was great and I just got an OpenAI pro account with Codex. That should help me finally building the OSC bridge I need to have more interesting control over Unity with Max. I already have camera/object/light movement in a 3D environment going, but I have Ideas for even cooler stuff.

Also, yeah you can integrate VST’s but I have more freedom with that in MAX

Which is much more exciting to me, than playing with PAM while thinking: why is this or that not integrated? I just realized I can build something myself that excites me much more. But I think it could be great for people, who are not into building MAX stuff and want to dip into that. PAM to me feels like a sophisticated MAX or Reaktor Patch, build by a cool guy for shure.

coming to a conclusion:
What I wanted was a creative tool to experiment with, where I could easily start with something and get something going. And PAM was not that for me

HY Slicer 2 on the other hand… within a few minutes I got something going, that I liked a lot and could work with. It’s really cool, that everything fits into one window. You throw a long sample in there, it gets sliced. You randomly just throw slices into the steps and whoopee.

With PAM I need to cut loops before, this and that. I need to work into a direction that gives me just more black holes to fall into, while I actually want to make some tunes

Yeah, I this guy is new to me. I think he started with MAX stuff

Great interfaces, and everything feels thought out nicely. That’s what I wanted
