Hi, I’m a big user of Hologram and absolutely love Microcosm and chroma :+1:

I can’t believe the Tonverk hasn’t made an appearance in this thread… seems like this is it’s main MO??

I had the same thought the other day, but tbf it’s a lot of money if FX were the main point of interest

Yeah, but if money’s no concern, TV is a pretty nice creative FX unit.

Hoever, these days a used OT mk1 also needs to be mentioned. They’re sometimes available for under €600 these days, that’s what you’d pay for a Polyend Mess, so they are in the territory of some of the things mentioned here.

OT has a ton of possibilities as a creative effects unit, and it’s much simpler to use than many of the pedals shown here, because it has a display and encoders, and it can save more than 4 presets.

The things that make it particularly interesting IMHO

  • stack up to 16 FX
  • 16 algorithms (TV has 17)
  • 4 inputs (TV has only 2) – so you can handle 2 stereo devices (with 8 fx per device) or 4 mono devices (with 4 fx per device)
  • live looping (TV can’t do that)
  • powerful and easy to use (compared to the MESS) sequencer for modulations
  • EQs (TV has none) – these are especially handy for parallel processing, or when you use it as a mixer
  • parallel and serial processing
  • 1.5 LFOs per effect  (with custom LFO shapes)
  • scenes (and the fader)

There’s a lot you can to with that, if you’re creative.

are you familiar with how the FX work on the Rytm, I think I would be interested in a small box that works like that… I don’t have a Rytm but the only thing I have seen similar FX wise is the casio track performer (the red one), it has the ability to trigger fx by pressing the pads

You mean the macros for the pads?

You can add similar features that to any FX unit that has MIDI control for parameters with something like a QuNexus or QuNeo, or any other pad controller that sends CCs.

Whats special about these two is they can send multiple CCs per pad, QuNexus on pressure, tilt and position, QuNeo has pressure, zones and x-y settings for the pad, that is probably the most control you can get. But you can do with a simpler controller and map that with a Blokas MIDI-Hub. If you add a controller with knobs you might even be able to control range for each parameter, but 8’m not sure about that.

Not a hw unit, but Infiltrator 2. It makes effect automation in DAW a lot more fun IMO.

I thought of this thread after watching that video :sunglasses:

I love that you can play this pedal with a MIDI keyboard, among other things

I’ll have to chime in with the Zoia - it’s been mentioned a few times but not nearly enough. Especially with how well it plays with Elektron gear. It can be setup basically as a modular fx unit and can be manipulated and controlled with anything that outputs midi.

Combine that + it’s inbuilt LFO’s + something like an Octa or Digi boxes and you can get some RIDICULOUSLY evolving and complex mangling happening.
