Oh man, Trail of Dead was so fucking good for a minute there, I saw then a bunch of times between Madonna and Worlds Apart and it was always great. They were not afraid to smash stuff, jump into the audience, whatever. One time I half-tackled their bass player lol

Quite possibly one of the best punk-rock photos ever too!

Starts in the street, moves into a studio where they approximate their live version, which usually ended their shows. (The guitar is from the album version.)

I saw these guys live that year, and interviewed them after the show. Otway was bleeding. Barrett kept ducking the microphone; I called him on it, and he told me to fuck off.

Dillinger Escape Plan FTW:

Oh, you’re not wrong. Saw them in Birmingham (UK) with High On Fire supporting. At one point Greg climbed the massive amp stack and did a leap of faith trying to grab the rigging over the stage. He landed it and did two songs hanging upside down with his knees over the very top bar of the rigging and then fell off headfirst into the crowd below. We thought he was dead for sure. Absolute legends.

Agreed—legendary band. I’ve been fortunate to see them a few times. The first time was at a tiny venue in Rochester, NY. Ben was sprinting across the bar and crowd surfing almost the entire show. Greg was breathing fire at that point, and late in the show jumped and starting swinging upside down from the minimal light rig. The rig ripped out of the ceiling, which caused a domino effect as ceiling panels throughout the venue started to come down. Security stopped the show, with Greg vowing to return soon.

Best in business, no question.
