Copying patterns

I tried to copy a pattern from F1 to F2, by the following:

[ul]
[li]Bank F Trig 1 Play/Copy - saw a message, Pattern copied[/li]
[li]Bank F Trig 2 Stop/Paste - saw a message, Pattern pasted[/li]
[/ul]

Yet the patterns per track are still empty. So, I copied each track one by one with:

[ul]
[li]Bank F Trig 1[/li]
[li]Select Track 1[/li]
[li]Page Play/Copy[/li]
[li]Bank F Trig 2[/li]
[li]Page Stop/Paste[/li]
[/ul]

Got a copy of one page of the pattern. Luckily the patterns I copied were only one page long. Do I really have to do it this way, or am I getting muddled up. I did scan this forum to find out.

Not really sure (and my A4 is far away). But I think it works like this:

To copy a individual track Grid recording mode has to be active

To copy the active pattern (grabbing all tracks) Grid recording mode must not be active

To copy the active pattern (grabbing all tracks) Grid recording mode must not be active

I’ll give it a whirl.

Flatpipe is correct. And if it actually copies the entire pattern (including all tracks), then a Paste operation will also change the length of the target pattern to match the original length of the copied pattern. Copy/paste of a track, by contrast, will either truncate (or extend I think) the pasted track to match the existing length of the target pattern.

Tried making sure A4 was not in grid mode - nope, still can’t copy F1 to F2. Patterns still empty. So, went back to copying by page.

I think I may have to video what I’m doing so people can tell me what I’m doing wrong.

Ah… figured it out when I tried to video what I was doing.

When I paste, I simply pressed F 5 Stop/Paste then immediately let go. It doesn’t paste. I noticed a count down appearing so I held F 5 Stop/Paste and then it says Pattern Pasted, and I get all four tracks patterns pasted.

BINGO !! ! I wandered what you did wrong as your discription of actions was correct, it can be in a little corner.
ENJOY :joy:
