I want to link abletons crossfader to the OT,
I can control abletons fader from the Octatrack via midi cc48
But not sure if possible the other way?
Would be cool to automate the scenes in ableton…
Also what channel does the crossfader send midi on?
Can’t seem to figure it out but if I turn all midi channels off on the ot it doesn’t work
And have to put audio channel one to midi channel 1 to make it work…

Yes, you need CC48.
Concerning midi channel, it’s not obvious at all!
I figured it out (not in the manual) :
It’s the lowest midi channel of the audio tracks (you need one), not shared with a midi track channel (if you want to send the CC48, that condition is not true for reception) !

So to control the crossfader externally I send cc48
But on which channel ? Not sure where to send it…
I am syncing the Octatrack to the digitone via midi cable and the Octatrack doesn’t show as a destination
I think you should send on Autochannel number 11 by default
Yes I forgot Autochannel for reception. Should work. But if you want to send from OT and record in your DAW, the midi channel is :
The lowest midi channel of the audio tracks not shared with a midi track channel.
Ex : if the lowest audio tracks midi channel is 1 but shared : CC48 is sent on channel 2.
It’s actually the analog 4 that is sending it clock and program changes to change patterns not the digitone…
I just tried sending it to channel 11 to the analog four
and had both ot and A4 on auto channel 11 and that didn’t work
As there is no destination for the Octatrack not sure how to get it there
I might need a midi merge box to be able to receive clock and program change from the A4
So it stays in perfect time (because of overbridge)
and then send midi cc also straight from the computer
I can get it to work with a USB to midi cable I have but then the sync is out because everything is clocked from overbridge
If you send midi to A4 with USB, I don’t think you can get anything but clock transport with midi out, and nothing with thru.
Do you have a midi interface?

I have a midi interface and it works that way,
but I want the clock and program change from the A4
so I’ve already ordered a midi merger so can get both into the Octatrack.
That way I can automate scenes and whatever via cc on the OT from ableton
and still get clock and program change from the A4
