Confusion about Syntakt FX track with overbridge

Hi guys, I’m using my Syntakt via overbridge and the FX block track is behaving rather quirky.
A) it’s very loud.
B) If I route a track to it both the FX track and the track I routed to the FX play at the same time, I’ve changed the audio routing settings in syntakt to not send tracks 1-12 to the FX block but they still play in Ableton. (Maybe because I’ve set it to post fader?)

I want to be able to process each track individually in using Ableton FX while also applying the FX block to each track. In other words, I don’t want to process all the FX block routes tracks all at once. Or is the FX block treated as a send with no way to mix its audio back in on a per track basis?

For example I want to route kick and bass to the FX block, but I want the output in Ableton to be Kick track with FX block applied, and a second Bass track with FX block applied, not both mixed together. I want to make use of the FX Block drive while still being able to apply DAW effects separately to each of the tracks AFTER the drive is applied.

Guessing there’s no way to set the routing up this way inside Syntakt? :frowning:

That’s correct. A track can either be routed to the FX block or the main mix, but once it’s routed to the FX block, it is part of the FX block. The example you gave with kick and bass both being routed to FX block but having separated tracks via OB to use in Ableton is not possible, unless you want to mute tracks and record them one at a time. However, if you did that, I imagine it might remove some of the charm of the FX block drive anyway, since a big part of it (IMO) is having multiple sounds squashing into one another in the drive signal path.

Thanks for explaining, I guess I don’t mind that as I can use Live’s effects as inserts. The only annoyance is the “sidechain” effect is on there so any sidechained sounds in the Syntakt can’t be processed separately in Live. But I realize I can just use a second LFO set to trig to achieve the same effect.

Is there a fix for the issue labelled B in my post? If I route a track to the FX block I want it to stop playing redundantly from the Main in overbridge. Right now the way it’s working is that both the track routed to main and both the track routed to the FX block are playing simultaneously and it’s severely messing up the levels I’ve set in the Syntakt.

Did you try to click the “tape cassette” icon in the Overbrigde? It opens the mixer. IIANM it can help you.

Thanks for the tip. I will try it out next time I use overbridge. Ideally I would want any track I send to the FX block to auto mute in Ableton, but it’s not a big deal if it doesn’t.
