jfc. I loved FFVIII, X and loved RPGs but for the life of me I couldn’t figure that game out. I think I akways stopped at a specific point with no idea where to go. Had no clue what the story is either.
I think if I would play it now it would be the same lol
23H in and AC:Shadows is fiercely competing with CP:2077 for playtime. I now regret not waiting to start Shadows until completing CP.
Ironically, I’d score both games perfect if they had the one major feature both are missing respectively. A third person view for CP and a first person view for Shadows. Both are great as is but the option to switch 1st/3rd person views like GTA5 or Skyrim would be ideal.
Both offer absolutely stunning views, compelling stories and non stop action. Both offer a lot of depth and satisfaction for combat fans. Tons of ways to neutralize the ops.
Of course Naoe’s Shinobi skills makes V’s feel clumsy comparatively. However, V more than makes up for it with go go gadget smashBro gorilla arms, endless types of firearms, Mage like supernatural cyber kinetic powers and fleet of vehicles to choose from.
The Naoe/Yasuke is the best split action tandem gaming I’ve played even beating out GTA5 triplets imo for seemless character switching. Can’t reach a quest item, quick switch to Naoe. Need to dispatch a few really tough Ronin, Guardian, Samarai baddies…flip to the huge bad ass African and kick a mf clean across the screen like this is Sparta!
I could go on but I won’t. Sorry for the game rant. As you can tell….I LOVE THIS GAME.
Nice to read the opinions on shadows. I gave up on AC a while ago but might try this one out.
Currently though I am slightly hooked on let’s go pikachu. I’ve never really played Pokémon but bought it for my daughter. But I love it too; it’s like the antidote to playing elden ring (very near the end of SOTE now, it’s great)
Bought Stellar Blade finally, the first hours are very promising, the characters are nice, the skilltree has meaning, because you learn new moves, setting is gritty, story starts dark, and i like it.
Also the blocking is executed well, easy to learn the windows. Should be in other games like this. The blade indicates the block with a flash, very good deaign idea.
Yeah, I bought it for the spectacle and visuals, and expected to like it for a bit and get sidetracked (usual game pattern if something isn’t exceptional). Then I got absolutely hooked to the point where the last 10% of Doom: TDA is on hold until I finish collecting things in Stellar Blade (which is also unusual for me).
It’s just enjoyable, flows, and I can pick it up and put it down at will.
Except I just grabbed Earthion, so I’ll have to get my SHMUP fix at the same time.
I got it for 50 from Amazon, for a top game, which is exactly in my genere, i am willing to pay. But i dont hoard games, My steam libary is probably very small compared to others. (60-80 titels, some Indie within.) And on consoles i end up mostly with 10-15 games during its lifecycle.
If you seek an older titel: have a go with “Days Gone” it has a good story, and very nice open world.
Def co-sign Days Gone. Would also recommend a very under mentioned game called Sleeping Dogs by Naughty Dog. Super fun action packed GTA style game with Asian gangster theme.
Sunny Chiba’s Killer meets IP Man in one video game. Good times
Always fun to hear about new games for old consoles!
I’m currently actually revisiting some GameBoy games that I made the music for (coded by an ex-Elektron-employee actually, with some music driver coded by me) for my gig at Chipwrecked 2025. Was involved in three (Death Planet, Quartet & Ninja Twins) of the games listed here at itch and will perform one of the songs at the festival so feel free to join Bornholm in a few days Anyway, I can thoroughly recommend any of these games if you happen to have a GameBoy or just run it in an emulator! All downloadable for free.
For the latest game we made, there is still no emulator that can handle it actually. If using the Super GameBoy cartridge on a Super Nintendo it will use the 8channel samplebased audio engine in the SNES. Extremely few games have used that feature. Small demo here.
been enjoying the point and click adventure The drifter for the past week.
Really fun game love that setting is Australia too. the company has 3 years of very transparent dev diary if your into the dev side of things.
