Comparing the Tonverk to Digitakt 1, 2 and Octatrack

A quick comparison of the main features of Elektrons mid-range and hi-end samplers. Might be helpful for making up ones mind whether or not to add a Tonverk to their setup.

Below the table there’s a list of TV and OT’s effect machines.

Let me know if I missed anything, and I’ll add it.

Nice comparison.
OT: 16 or 24 bit/44.1 kHz wav/aiff files, mono or stereo.
SRC Machines: Add ‘Static’.
Filter is multimode, can do bandpass, FX only.

Don’t have a TV yet, but from the manual:
“Tonverk can load and play WAV and AIFF audio files (samples) with 16/24/32-bit depth (floating and fixed point) and sample rates of 44.1/48/88.2/96 kHz (mono and stereo interleaved).”
“It will play them back at a maximum of 32-bit float, 48 kHz.”

Thanks, I’ll fix that in a minute.

Before I mute the topic (no fault of OP, I’m just muting all tonverk topics) can you please add retail pricing as an additional point of comparison? Thank you.

Yeah nice comparison however Digitakt II suits me just fine :ok_hand:

Digitakt I doesn’t have slice machine I think.

Also, Digitakt II has more FX than delay reverb and chorus:

Second line are send FX, but first line should be track FX

Digitakt II is a no brainer IMO

Oh man, I was hoping the TV could handle live sampling. I skimmed the manual and thought I had missed it, but it sounds like it can’t :((

Yes, I love it

I know mine inside out I couldn’t be without it. Digitakt II would be the one I kept out of all Elektrons… f**k I would even buy another one without question

Sidechain (direct or workaround) is missing for me in this list.

You should mention that Digitakt II offers compressor routing setup so you can exclude the kick from being sidechained for instance

DT1 got the Slice machine in a late firmware upgrade, but one cannot move slice endpoints like on DT2.

So, regarding buses: the OT has the Cue bus — should that be mentioned? I don’t really care, but I use it a lot as a resampling bus, and maybe that’s useful info.

Regarding I/O: does the TV have 6 outs because we’re counting the 2 headphones channels?

I don’t have a bad word for DT2 it does everything I want and more. :grinning:

Such a killjoy

Yes you are right, it became « grid machine » on the DT II I think

I want to start a petition to ask @shigginpit to unmute Tonverk topics
