Compact ADAT interfaces?

Are there any? Every one that I can find are rack sized and I don’t space for something that size. I also find that format just a little awkward when not in a rack.

Are there any more compact options out there?

There were some SM-Audio Ones…Only Ins or only Outs. !

SM Pro Audio A08 as example

I think he is looking for Jacks to Adat and not an interface like the RME. RME still needs an AD-Converter.

Yes, sorry I wasn’t clear, I have an audio interface (AudioFuse) so am looking for compact options to expand it.

Interesting - that’s looking nice and compact. THX

I’d love to see something like the RME ADI-2 FS, but set up with four channels for 96kHz, plus a word clock connector.

I so wish this thing was class compliant

This is the size I’m trying to avoid - looking for something more compact. Seems weird that they all seem to be rack sized when audio interfaces comes in all shapes and sizes…

Ultralite mk4?
What’s your master interface you’ll be using, and what device is is connected to? Asking because do you need to use adat? Any other way you can expand inputs? (And I’m assuming you need jacks still and usb to adat won’t work for you?)

I’m using an AudioFuse - so a small compact interface - would like to keep a future ADAT expansion to be similar in size if possible

Mac? Windows? Something else?

Sorry, Mac - though I don’t think that matters as it would be connected to the AudioFuse which then would handle the inputs. I don’t want to mess around with Aggregate devices - I find them more hassle than they’re worth

I’m bumping this for the sake of revisiting a low-profile ADAT expansion for the ableton push standalone.
Why? It’s low latency notwithstanding, the outputs don’t offer hardware direct monitoring. I’m looking for something that despite latency compensation for playback/record, the artist can at least reference themselves.
Most options will be rack mount.
Maybe some streaming boxes would work.

So far, I’m finding an old scarlet or clarett 2pre, Focusrite

Or an expensive Rupert Neve 5017

I’ve got larger items, but nothing to smaller in order facilitate recording in the field.

You’ll find lots of good suggestions in ths Push 3 audio interfaces thread

buy another arturia audio interface and make them aggregate. I have 2 ssl12 like that so i have 8 analog ins

thread is two years old so hopefully the OP found a solution. and maybe they can chime in with it!

if it were me I’d get an RME Fireface 400. just have to configure once to map analog I/O to the ADAT and then you never need Firewire again (I have done this with my FF 800). or something like one of the MOTU units mentioned above could probably do similar.

my guess is that this is because likely most people who have filled their audio interface to the point of wanting to expand to more I/O via ADAT are already using a rack-width interface, in order to maximize their I/O.
