What do you need it for? I might have something if you just need a stereo recorder with good sound, preamps, monitoring etc…

Oh just curious. I spotted that it had dual USB-C input, so two computers/devices simultaneously like my beloved iConnectivity 4C - not often you see that on devices at the lower end of the market. If it all.

That comes as a relief, given I’ve recently given away my replacement replacement to another friend, leaving me decidedly short on replacements for the item I was thinking of!

I watched the review you posted to see what the music tech help guy says, it seems like he makes some good points so, you know, hard to argue that he knows what he’s talking about.

Here’s a more neutral review that I found from cupfungus who’s a member on this forum. More of a casual user than someone with an interface review focus, but I’d say this could be taken as an alternate perspective. One thing that is different in this review is that he also demos music which he used this interface to record as opposed to just stating that it’s unusable for recording music, and this may or may not be useful to someone (in spite of the youtube audio fidelity limitations).

His primary observation that was not complimentary is that the noise suppression is touchy and that the level meters have some latency and are not 100% accurate when monitoring peak signal, both issues that the first reviewer mentioned but he also goes on to note in post-production text that apparently there were updates to the AD5 since the video was recorded which address some of the issues.

Thanks for posting that. If nothing else he now has a new subscriber

Still remains an interesting device based on dual USB, USB noise isolation, rechargable battery and price.

I’m not really in it’s market (I need more ins and outs and MIDI if it were to be an iC4 challenger for me) but bookmarked for sure.

No worries man! I like the pseudo “digital camera” form factor, and the internal battery is a nice concept. I thought that it was an interesting thing to learn that the Zoom recorder, when used as an interface, gets a lot of line noise when used plugged in making it only viable if you use batteries. My zoom recorder is an oldie so I don’t bother with it for the interface capabilities.

I have a UA volt device with the compressor emulation and 4 ins, 2 of which are XLR. It’s not bad I guess, kind of novel, also has metering from the interface itself, but I probably should have just set more money aside and waited for a deal on an apollo.

Not sure what your requirements are but there are so many interfaces on the market these days it’s really hard to pinpoint all the strengths and all the weaknesses and then whittle it down to one perfect unit.

If nothing else, there’s a lot of affordable ones now and that gives you a little more freedom to try stuff out without going into debt over it

If I did any amount of mobile recording or needed a recording device away from my desk I’d definitely be considering it.
