The last few months I’ve been messing with the octa with a simple midi clock sync to the MFB tanzbar straight from Octa out to Tanzabar midi in 2. I recently purchased a midi solutions quadra thru in order to continue to use the octa as a master clock but send out to more gear (sub phatty, volga a few pedals)
Anyways, the straight midi link between octa and any one of these pieces works fine (out to in…the cables are fine too) but once I try to chain the cables with the quadra thru seemingly none of the midi info gets passed.
The quadra thru lights up to show it has power but the clock sync doesn’t get passed downstream to the tanzabar eg.
So I’m wondering if there’s just something I’m missing or perhaps a faulty unit. Please advise, can’t spend anymore time plugging and unplugging cables
i wonder if the octatrack is not providing enough power down the midi line?
that is the case with the machinedrums and the midi solutions quad according to their list of machines which do not work in the faq http://www.midisolutions.com/faqs.htm#Power
I have a OT midi out going to quadra thru midi in and haven’t had any trouble syncing the synths I have connected to it. I’m not sure what to tell you regarding your issue. Not sure if there is something I don’t know about the clock sync messages your talking about. Every time I have had trouble getting data to go through my quadra thru, the light is not lit.
haven’t had problems with OT and quadra thru so far.
been using it for more than a year.
only time i had a problem was when i accidentally used a DIN sync cable between OT and the quadra instead of a MIDI cable – common mistake. or forgot a setting (clock send + transport send on OT, external sync on the slaves)
If you are asking for yourself then boxes like the Quadra Thru pass on all MIDI information.
If you’re asking the OP about his/her specific situation then I’ll leave it to the OP to respond.
