Cirklon V2

Another thing i misunderstood :
In fact, you program trigs on AR pattern that appears/function as trigless trigs would do. You don’t program trigless trigs on the AR right ?

It depends what you want to do - you can sequence trigs/notes on both Cirklon and Rytm if you like - but bear in mind when grid recording is on the Rytm will record in to its sequencer any notes being received from Cirklon.

In order to treat Rytm patterns as performable variations on a kit then you would probably want to sequence from Cirklon and then just have trigless trigs on the AR for parameter changes only present on that pattern.

Can also use AR Scenes for this purpose too - so there are a few ways to achieve the same result

Can you explain this a bit further please?
Connect computer to cirklon host port and then connect RYTM (or other) to a computer host port?
Do you not then suffer the same jitter etc. as you would if sequencing computer to RYTM via usb? Or is it a direct pass through somehow?

Connect computer to Cikrlon dev port, then connect Rytm to computer as usual.

Yes it’s a direct pass through via a free app called MidiPipe - the USB handling isn’t done in the DAW.
Colin from Sequentix has some notes on the Cirklon USB timing - a lot of the bad feeling around sequencing MIDI via USB is due to how computers de-prioritise USB MIDI against other processes (audio/video etc) where as Cirklon isn’t subject to this problem, and in this case the computer isn’t handling the MIDI it’s merely passing it through. Imagine connecting AR to Cirklon directly may speed things up even more, but the way I detailed works for me.

I thought trigless trigs were unuseable/unusefull when AR was externaly sequenced ?

I discovered this yesterday

Seems to be more efficient than trigless trigs when you want to add variation when sequencing with Cirklon.

Edit :
Futhermore, i encontered problems when i try to program cc from Cirklon using ck pattern. The Cirklon cc view page seems to freeze. Is that a known/ documented behaviour ?

This seems weird. It should be the case if you hold a trig on grid mode, or in Live Recording mode. But if you don’t touch anything in grid mode, nothing should get recorded. Feels like a bug to me.

So my email just dropped in. Funny how calm and advicey I was a few spots ago, now I’m conniving ways to buy it and changing my studio to suit! Arrgh as the fella says.

Sent Barbara the ‘it’s not you it’s me’ email - just cant spend on the studio right now, too many house projects. I asked to be recirculated so roll on 2027!

I’m at the top of the list now, and I’m all in! I’m keeping the octatrack, as it’s got a broken encoder and ive had it so long now that there’s somewhat of an attachment, but hoping after a few months it’ll most reside in storage. Can’t wait.

My wife still has no job…she had better get one the next 4 months…I am NOT going to be denied at least the chance to get one of these when my number comes up…soon…cmon wife, I let you get your dream car, you’d better get a job so I can get my dream sequencer.

Hi. I received my Cirklon (after around 4.5 years of waiting) today. I’ve been having a blast, but I can’t seem to figure out how to configure the instrument definitions for my vermona perfourmer. Does anyone have experience with this in particular that could advise? It seems like it should be pretty simple, midi out -> set the channels on the performer -> set the create defs for each channel. But it doesn’t seem to like it. Everything else was a breeze setting up.

Colin reckons he’s still being hit by the silicon shortage.

He’s not enough of a big player to get priority I guess. :frowning:

at least you have your priorities right!

You can check the Sequentix forum, the answer may be over there.

Posted there too, but figured enough people over here too that someone might know

what do you mean by this? what behavior are you seeing and what settings are you trying to use in the definition?

I have multiple definitions for my Perfourmer so that which one I use can be changed based upon how I have the Perfourmer configured. haven’t had any issues with those though.

Hi, thanks for the reply! Currently, I was trying to set up four definitions for each voice. Here are the steps I’ve taken:

  1. set each voice to a different channel on the perfourmer, 1-2-3-4
  2. Sent midi out from midi 4
  3. Created definition with settings: MIDI 4, channel 1; midi 4 channel 2; etc

I can tell it’s receiving midi clock, but no notes.

that sounds right. what play mode do you have the P4mer in? have you tried any other midi ports, or other channels on that same port? does anything else respond to midi on that port, from those channels or otherwise?
