Include it in you set!
Donβt eat fish!
Itβs like you are in a flying plane without pilot knowing how do drive it.
@Sezare56 LOL! Not quite what I was talking about, but, okay.
If youβve got tips/suggestions on getting started with the OT, please feel free to share. Iβve gotten as far as making a set and a project. I also have some loops loaded into some slots. Trying to figure out putting these loops on actual parts and tracks in order to play and hear sounds.
P.S.
Iβm in the process of reading the manual and watching videos (thereβs a bit of a learning curve with the OT - plus I am still new to Elektron machines).
Avoid Parts for the moment. You can plock samples instead (Hold trig + Level knob).
Donβt hesitate to ask in OT category.
Thereβs a Noob Question thread.
Thanks. Will do.
thanks @sezare56 for posting this challenge, I had a lot of fun!! It has been a long time since I have covered a song, and I thought itβd be interesting to see if I could get the melody to come out of the sine wave machines, and it did! sort of . . .
I also sampled all the sounds I designed for this piece, go here if youβd like to download the free pack
Melody is clear! I found it so much more difficult to do a Cover Challenge than the last one, trying to keep the melody recognizable and making something cool was the main challenge.
This is great amku, def inspires me!
Nice, great job stickin to the theme!
Love the bell/melody sound with the delays & how it interacts with the percussion
@amku donβt try to play along with A=440 - in the sample pack I labeled the pitched one-shots with approximately how many cents they are off from the nearest A=440 note value
@Sharris thank you! I am looking forward to trying out the samples in my Octatrack, I really like the out-of-tune toy piano/music box quality, and I baked the MD fx into one of the kits as well, should be very fun to mess with - Iβll have to use this MD kit for another piece sometime in the future, although Iβll probably mess with the samples first
Thanks!
@defenestration, sorry I canβt hear / watch it. Not network at home, bad luck series. Chocolate pounder pack exploding at breakfast, 10 liters wines bag in box with a hole, cat stuck in neighbourβs caveβ¦soβ¦as soon as network is back.
@nionmu I could hear you with smartphone network! Really interesting and unexpected too. Kind of asiatic mood harmony. Sorry to say I think you can do a better version concerning sound design / fx / mixing, because thereβs a really good base. What did you use?
@defenestration I could play / hear it!
Great stuff with MD Sines! And beautiful stage settings.
only from that angle, from any other it was just a bunch of junk on a table
Great work!
thanks for your feedback - just listened to it in the car and think i see what you mean, it is a little muddy, especially in the lows and low mids⦠overall balance is not good. it is done mostly rytm only and stereo recording with no mastering, except cutting extreme low and high frequencies in ableton. most sounds are made in rytm with the sample from the beginning⦠arp sounds are from digitone. might work on that mix a bit if i am in the mood⦠guess i should try to better separate the elements from each other also the kick is a little over the top maybe
what do the others think in terms of mixing? opinions/suggestions?
Listening in a car is great, I always forget to do it from laziness but when I do my mixes turn out better. As far as mixing I also heard that ear fatigue can change the way you listen to a track drastically so I think its good to take breaks from music/sound.
Sound design is done. Just the arrangement, performance, recording, auditioning (in the car, of course) and re-recording to do and Iβm done!
Iβm gonna be sweating to get this finished in time.
I made another version, hopefully more balanced - worked on the kits directly on the machines and did a new recording. (a little noisy)
please submit your songs, folks- only a few days left⦠but no preassure
the few submitted tracks have been great so far
Iβll be putting a stop to that happy little run of greatness in a few days, donβt you worryβ¦
