It’s a really interesting move on both their parts. Both of them are such down to earth, good people and it’s a pleasure to see them both profit from the work. The little documentary was really sweet as well, esp. the bonding trip to Japan. I haven’t gotten one of these yet bc I’m trying to be a little less of a crackhead with new releases of anything and it’s not a limited edition, but I see myself owning one at some point.
I don’t quite understand how this doesn’t hurt AM’s bottom line in the long-term, but I’m sure that’s something they would have talked through, so I’m not concerned about it. I know that if I’d been on his wait list for 4 years and could just buy this I’d get off the wait list in a second. But I think there’s lots of folks who’ll buy the AM-version as well just to make sure the mojo is in tact.

I’m sure a part of the money gets in AM’s pockets. Plus the operation draws some attention on his other pedals, I guess.
Waiting for the next Mystery Box thing or second hand to try one, 480€ for this is nuts.
As I understand it, KoT’s major bottleneck involves actually finding the components, so Mike sells the same number of pedals whether the waitlist has five people or five thousand. This will take some of the pressure off while still getting a version of the pedal into more people’s hands, and there will always be a market for “the real deal.”
Also, I don’t have any real insight, but logically speaking he’s either earning a portion of each Brothers AM sold, or Chase Bliss paid him a worthwhile amount of money upfront for the collaboration.

I think AM will have a boost at least for a while. I bought a Prince of Tone and a Bi-Chorus that I probably wouldn’t have bought if the awareness for AM from Chase Bliss didn’t come up. Also, people that really want a KOT will still want it even if they buy the Brothers AM for the most part.

On another site there’s been mention of him having stock of the Brothers AM now and again, so perhaps he’s getting batches of the pedals to sell now and again as compensation. I, too, know nothing, but what I can guess is that it’s working out well for both of them. They both seem like really decent humans. It’s really refreshing to have them in my feed.

He’s nearing retirement - this will provide an income no doubt to go on when he’s hung up his soldering iron. It’s all win.
