I ordered L&F after I listened to the demos. I think for me it makes a lot of sense. I think the key to real utility from it will be getting very good at using my Morningstar MC-6 Pro as a midi switcher for it that fluidly allows me to both recall presets, but also save them. I’ve done some of that work for the Mood MKII and Onwards, but need to dive back in and keep going to make it all very black and white.
The modulation sounds I’m hearing out of L&F are just beautiful and I’m actually quite spare on stand-alone chorus, phaser and flange effects. I immediately heard Cocteau Twins guitars which are very close to my heart. They’re not sounds I always want, but I love the idea of having killer, unique versions of them available on a board. Ideal placement will be challenging with L&F, but that’s ok. That’ll force my hand in creative ways.
Being that it’s currently small batch, resale will also be excellent for quite some time, so risk is significantly lower in terms of ability to move it on if needed.
I think I’m going to sell of my Light Bright Mood MKII. It’s my 2nd MKII Mood (I love that pedal), but I feel like with L&F I’ll have some of those sounds covered and I can’t justify having it around.
I sort of feel like they’re perfectly primed to make a larger multipedal stomp that takes up some real-estate. I’d love them to build something with more buttons, faders and the multipedal approach to things.
Someone on lines posted a link to this. Of course it doesn’t replace owning the actual pedals. There’s a level of immediacy and focused interaction that gets lost with software, but I think these racks approximately the sound pretty well.
Does anyone with a Lossy know what the usb port on the left side is for? I can’t seem to find anything in the manual/midi manual or their videos about it.
Uhh a little late to the party regarding the Lost&Found.
So I’ve watched some demos and I think this pedal sounds really good, although the combination of effects is really creative - I think in real world that it would be difficult to apply - at least in my setup right now.
That being said I see it as a tool for minimalistic setup with acoustic instruments and for sure for sound designers.
Anyway as with all the new gear (also Polyend Mess looks so interesting) I will think if I really need it
Its going to sell so well. I can imagine the L&F having more widespread appeal than their last 5 regular offerings - Brothers (an expensive fuzz), Clean (an expensive compressor), Onward (wtf is it even), Billy Strings wombtone (an expensive phaser?), and Lossy (niche effect and there’s a plugin version).
L&F was small batch because of tariffs, but it will be a massive hit. I’m holding out for an alternative colorway/special edition sometime in the next 2-3 years.
To combat FOMO tactics, I try to ask myself if I would run out to get these pedals if they would be readily available for the foreseeable future … if the answer is no, I pass.
This was my thought process. I even went to the Bliss Fest last weekend to try L&F out. Wasn’t convinced. The Chroma Console I have is more than enough for a multi-FX pedal tbh.
Another interesting question that might help: If you only had one CBA pedal, would it be L&F? I’m pretty sure I’d say yes. The question is whether it adds that much to a CBA rig.
I’d love to combine my favorite things about others into a L&F like multi effect: The freeze part of Onward, the left delay/reverb part of Mood MK II, a simplified GenLoss mode and something bread and butter like a reverb or delay from L&F would be fantastic!
Are you proficient with the Zoia? If yes, that would be “bad” news because then you’d have the mental capacity to welcome a L&F. If not, then resisting should not be too hard
