CCTV Fade 4 - Performance MIDI & CV Controller

Hi all!

I just purchased this interesting MIDI - CV controller and thought you might be interested in having my thoughts about the unit. I haven’t found any review on the web so lets give it a try!
But first I gotta assemble it.
I’m planning on using it with the Digitakt II to control the Modwheel and Breathcontrol marco controls.

Just because it’s one of the first things I ask these days-

USB-C
Class compliant MIDI over USB
1/8th TRS A or B MIDI

There it is!
The DIY build was easy to intermediate, not to many parts to solder too me about an hour.
So first try I must say it feels great, faders are smooth and programming CC’s and channels from the front panel is real straight forward.

Powering on and off the unit, it stores the program in memory which was not clearly identified on the CCTV website so that is a great plus.

The fact that it does not require a PC to be programmed is great,
the CV outs are also a crazy fun addition in my opinion.
I would say that it is adequately named a ( Performance MIDI & CV Controller )

Using it to control de DT Mod Wheel meta controls in the setup page gives me that Octatrack xfader vibe. I abused it by setting all tracks to the same midi channel controlling 4 parameters on 8 channels at the same time and managed to crash my Digitakt II.

I’ll manage to make a video soon and post it hear so you can get an idea of the unit, the programing. Cheers!

This is pretty cool, the price of the DIY kit is really not bad either. I wonder how well two of them would work together? The enclosure looks solid but it’s plastic, isn’t it? Does it feel substantial or is it just like any other hollow plastic?

It’s a hammond metal enclosure so the weight is perfect. Quality stuff!

Even pre-assembled and shipped to UK is super reasonable…really like the look of this, thanks for sharing

You ca get it on Thonk as well.

Yeah, to include a metal hammond enclosure in a $160 kit is really going above and beyond to ensure that it feels like a nice piece of equipment. Thanks, that’s exactly what I wanted to know.

Made this little video for those interested in the unit.

nice one! wish I had any practical/soldering capabilities!

No need to, they have some pre-built units as well.
