CC Values over #120

Hi! Just registered to ask one specific thing about Digitone II midi CC implementation.

Trying to control Jomox MBase drum module and some of its parameters (lfo and things related to it ), but they fixed to CC #120 - #123, however Digitone’s midi track only allows to control parameters up to CC #119.

Is there something to do about it?

My Syntakt and Digitone 2 have the same limitation.

Probably nothing you can do.

Note: The DN2 has a ‘learn’ mode where you press FN+KNOB then send a MIDI CC message to select the CC number. Do you have that?

Yes, I do have it!

Maybe it’s a good idea try sending CC from Ableton and see if it will work

Thanks!

I’ve just checked and Ableton is also limeted to 119 CC controllers.

Seems like CC 120-123 are “Midi Channel Messages” whatever it means. Now wondering how they could reached by Digitone

I just looked it up and yes, they’re special values. eg. CC 120 is “all notes off”

So it doesn’t seem correct that Jomox would use them. Check carefully.

I’d rather be wrong, but…

The MIDI channel messages are part of the MIDI standard.
Hovewer every manufacturer can implement CCs any way they want. It’s a good practice to respect the MIDI standard and avoid using quite a few of the 127 CCs for anything else besides the standard function.

Maybe there are some other ways to send CC #120 - #123 from Elektron sequencer?

I was trying to set values via “Midi Learn” option (FUNC + ENC), but haven’t succed yet

UPDATE:

Midi Learn worked very well, all parameters assigned, all works perfectly
