CC before Note On to slice from external controller?

While browsing the octatrack forum, I came across this thread:

Essentially, when using a pad controller to trigger a sample, you arrange a cc message to be sent prior to the note on message, where the CC message stipulates the start point of the sample.

It also seems to have become evident that the octatrack prioritises note on messages over CC messages when received instantly, so the experiments conducted included sending the note on signal latently by approximately 10 milliseconds. Have we established if the digitakt has the same prioritization, and if so, if it is sensitive by that same 10 millisecond buffer?

What are thoughts on this technique being used to slice on the digitakt? What is a method to send CC before note value? Lemur is mentioned in the octatrack thread, but not a definitive answer.

I love this forum - thank you for the wonderful ideas and techniques so far!

People have been trying to do this since the DT came out but nobody has found a way to make this work so far, not sure about the technical details but it seems that the DT is only hearing CC values changes, like when you turn the know or modulate the value with a LFO, the CC value is not embedded in the note messages. This would probably possible with a computer nearby and some Max MSP skills tho.

not sure but you might actually be able to do midi loopback and set the 8 midi tracks to control the same audio track, assign a ccs to the starting point of ur liking and set a fast retrigable one shot lfo to modulate the cc with as little depth as possible and the appropriate offset, cant try right now but it might work

Tried this, and failed … see the topic linked above
