Caravan/van/RV owners, what music making device will you bring with you this summer?

What groovebox, instrument or other kind of music making gear will you bring with you on your vacation on the road? Or are you perhaps thinking of taking a break from it all and do other stuff instead?

No caravan/camper van/RV owners here I guess.

Me, I’ll be taking nothing with me aside from my Nintendo Switch. Taking a break from music making for a couple of weeks to just hang out with friends and family. :parasol_on_ground::sunrise:

Enjoy the trip!

I am going on my first camping trip in a caravan next week. I will bring my MacbookPro and try to learn more about the Live 11 Suite.

Also pondering if I should bring OP-Z or a Novation Circuit Rhythm. Those are two battery powered pieces of gear that i still havent explored that much.

I just moved my whole studio into a school bus. Solar powered and ready to roll. Still finishing the interior and adding acoustic treatment. Because of all the glass and metal window frames, right now there’s a cool natural spring reverb type of sound. Building panels and bass traps with sheep’s wool.

I know that doesn’t answer your question at all, but it’s semi relevant I guess. To answer your question, I’d probably just bring the sp 404 and a field recorder, along with some acoustic instruments.

Happy trails

Personally, I’d stick a simple setup. OT, laptop, headphones and a field recorder is all I’d bother with and it all takes up so little space.

Frankly, I just unplug and bring the field recorder and work on music when I return home.

That’s awesome!!

Amazing!
Is the bus still mobile? Are you planning on living in it?

Thanks!

The bus is mobile yes…it’s a 1991 international in great shape. Right now the studio gear isn’t anchored down at all, so I’d have to pack it up in order to move. But I’m not planning on taking the bus anywhere soon.

I’m building it out as an extra bedroom/ dedicated studio space that can also serve as a home on wheels if the need arises. I’ve had dreams of living nomadically since I was a kid, so perhaps that’s the future of this bus.

Typically I’ll just bring my fiddle. It gives me just as much joy as anything electronic I might bring and I just need a bit of whiskey to power it.

I am in the camp of, just have some fun and enjoy the trip. I take breaks from music often, and coming back to it after a nice break is a great thing. I wouldn’t bring any kind of electronic gear on a trip like this. Enjoy it, have some fun. But also, bringing a ukulele or acoustic guitar for mellow camp meanderings can be nice for you and others around.

Me too, I’ve never done anything about it though and have now collected a family and career!
We do go camping quite a bit, normally take the SP404mk2 and a mic.

Two guitars, P.O. tonic as funky metronome, Koala sampler and a bluetooth speaker…

On my last holiday I took the Polyend Tracker and a power bank.

It was a really great experience.

Hehe yesterday i decided to take a two-days off, grab my Tracker in the caravan and go to the river. This sampler is really the most complete device I would take with me in such experiences because it can allow to do a complete track or just jam with the wavetables… the only issue is about screen and pad brightness which is not good at least when the sun is in its zenith. However this is a minor problem IMO

Hohner G3T headless guitar.
Zoom H4n and a mini tripod.
Boss Waza Air headphones.
iMaschine and Yellofier apps for drums.

I don’t really use iPhone softsynths but I will sequence a loop using the PWM-2 app.

It all fits in one softbag along with a tablet or notebook.
