I think it’s a conspiracy
Traditionally speaking, candy corn was a threat of what you’d face (i.e having to pick up your teeth off the ground) if you refused to give up your candy to bullies. Later capitalised on by some enterprising confectionary makers.
if that’s not the best candy story then I don’t know what is haha
That History Channel video leaves out the most fun fact - that the coating on the outside is made of secretions from this little critter:
That is a lac bug, and as it’s name suggests, it secretes shellac, which is used to make wood varnish and food glaze. Once upon a time, it was used to make records.
Also, I love candy corn.
what the heck!
my candy corn days are over
Also Whoopers, Milk Duds, Raisinets, Goobers, Jelly Belly’s, and Godiva candies, to name a few. It’s also used to coat pharmaceutical pills and tablets (it’s especially effective for time-release capsules) and even fruit.
you’re ruining my life scot
Maybe I’m not ruining it. Maybe that little bug is making it better.
I’m gonna have to just give you and that bug the benefit of the doubt on that one hahaha, well you haven’t steered me wrong yet but we’re on shaky ground here.
