Can you make music with Just Samplers(ensemble)?

Does anyone have a lot of samplers that they combine together. Usually you will see only one sampler used at a time. But as i have several i’ve been thinking why not. Has anybody tried doing this. No other instruments. Just samplers?

Yes but i was thinking seperate different samplers. (Models etc).

You can connect a ton of samplers via MIDI
But I’ve seen people with e.g. and Digitakt and an Octatrack …

Isn’t that common in the Hip Hop community?

maybe an MPC and a Sp1200 or S950. But what if you have 4 or 5 or more?

please make a track with all your samplers. i’d love to hear it, and find out what you sample. maybe a different thematic palette in each sampler?! maybe you could sample each sampler sampling samples.

I’m gonna guess half of the most popular songs in the world from the last 20-30 years were made with only samplers

Madness or Genius?

No PC allowed though. Just hardware samplers in a collective?

Are we pretending like Hip Hop doesn’t exist in this scenario? im confused

Its the number used that the question is about, not just two. (eg S950 and SP1200) which were very popular and i still use in my studio. See Sleepynumb post as an example of what i mean. (ensemble).

Hopefully not too serious. Music is meant to be fun afterall. :slightly_smiling_face:

If I’m at my desk I’m always using my sp202, sp303, sp404og, sp404mk2, tonverk, and octatrack together. It’s definitely not necessary and I don’t really ever make things that feel like they’re worth sharing, but I really enjoy using all of my samplers and basically treat them like sps resampling from machine to machine and shaping the sound with the various fx along the way
