Can I use Game Footage on Youtube videos?

I’ve done some research and it seems there is neglible copyright lawsuits when it comes to showing game footage(and its getting really good). Most Gaming companies don’t seem to mind and its a free for all. Just don’t misuse it in bad ways that’s all. Is this true. Copyright on computer game footage for you-tube videos.(a lot of gaming channels don’t ask permission and the videos never get taken down unlike Music or Film. I’m in the dark here so anyone with any experience?

Im going by this at the moment where Nintendo dont give a hoot.

I think as the Music is removed anyway then it should be okay?

Generally speaking you are fine as there is so much game streaming and video making already, most companies treat it as free advertising.

Thats what i was hoping. It seems very generous as the video footage has got incredible lately.

Especially considering you have an entire class of people whose livelihood relies on the ability to share game footage online. You probably don’t have to worry.

Thanks

Idly wondering whether the person who created the game footage, the player/streamer, could make a claim regarding the footage if it was used by someone else for another purpose.

It’s been a while since I have had to think about copyright issues.

From what ive read the only time that happens is when the Creator no longer wants to be associated with Youtube or certain platforms. Then he has the right to take down all videos with his footage.

Whats different say to a Disney Film with CGI graphics and a Computer game with CGI graphics. It seems Gaming isnt so fussed. Yet these big Movie giants are.

The thing is: you are using their property, so they might ask you to take it down and would have the right for it. You might have luck and that won’t happen, but the risk is on your side.
