I’ve recently uploaded the complete version of my album Nàos to YouTube.
It’s a five-hour work in four parts, exploring ambient, drone and tape music, with an emphasis on slow transformations, repetition and long-form listening.
I realize five hours is quite a commitment, so I certainly don’t expect anyone to listen to the whole thing. But if you’re into this kind of music and feel like checking out even a section of it, I’d be genuinely interested in hearing your impressions.
i’m listening through the whole thing right now, just done with section 1…
for a 5 hour long piece, and an emphasis on slow transformations, i was really (happily) surprised at just how much variation and texture there is! i guess reading about it on the forum, and having the 5 hour length as some sort of mental metric of what to expect, it really made me think of something way more minimal for some reason.
but, it sounds fantastic so far! completely capturing my attention and with lots of details to find. very very impressed, can’t wait to keep going…
Thank you so much for such a thoughtful comment! I’m really happy you’re enjoying it and that it’s captured your attention so much.
I’d be genuinely curious to know what feelings and images the music has evoked for you, and what meanings or interpretations you might give it once you’ve finished listening.
I’m tempted to explain the concept behind the entire work, but I wouldn’t want to influence your listening experience.
Anyway, if you have any questions or thoughts you’d like to share, I’m all ears
Thanks a lot! The complete version should be available on Spotify soon. My label hasn’t told me the release date yet.
I’m really glad you’re enjoying it!
I absolutely love Richter’s Sleep (not every single part of it, but it’s a great work). When it comes to long-form pieces, I personally prefer Leyland Kirby’s Everywhere at the End of Time and Robert Rich’s Somnium , although nothing beats John Cage’s ASLSP
Thank you so much for the kind words! Let me know how the rest of the listening goes. If you have any questions or thoughts you’d like to share, I’d be happy to discuss them
