Caldigit Hub on Mac - long cable to MacBook!?

I’m wanting to try moving my MacBook further away from my workstation, to reduce fan noise (this is a 2019 Intel model).

Caldigit have a powered connection to MacBook, but I’m wondering if I could use a longer non-powered Thunderbolt cable? Possibly an optical cable. …and then power the Mac with the normal power-supply

Anyone tried this?

Thunderbolt 3 and 4 spec is about 2m before speed/performance starts suffering. Other than that, you’ll have to start looking at optical TB cables, which aren’t exactly cheap. Last I checked 100m optical TB cable was about 500$

I was thinking more like 4m.
