C64 mini

Wonder if @Dataline will be buying one of these: https://thec64.com/
Wonder if it has a sid chip inside?

looks killer.

haha, I have been looking at that… But not so happy with it. The keyboard is not real… Which makes me sad :frowning: VERY SAD :frowning:

And it does not have Krakout, Fist+, Impossible Mission 2 or Boulderdash…

I have a rasberry PI3 with Retropie installed along with all the emulators.
C64, PS1 and Coin-Up Arcade games are so lovely to play… Recently managed to get Micheal Jackson’s Moonwalker running on the MAME emulator, such a nice feeling :loopy:

Just found my c64, not sure if I have all the parts needed to power it up though.

Agree 100%

fake keys? that blows.
I too am disappointed now.

BUT WHHYYYYY?
:aw:
I was so happy to see this… my C64 keyboard requires 127 Velocity hit to get the Button presses register :zonked: But when I noticed the keyboard on the remake, it went downhill.

They could have done away with the fake keyboard which is useless and added another USB port and sold a USB C64 style keyboard (which would probably sell well on its own too!) as an optional accessory.

8bitguy did a review on youtube, it is 100% emulation no sid.

But yea… Real C64 keyboard for modern times… ahahahah

But how are you supposed to Shift+Run/Stop?

Cool, am feeling a wave of total nostalgia.
Seems like a lifetime ago, friends and family huddled around the computer monitor in amazement at the sheer power and awesomeness of the mighty C64

my faves were Myth, Wizball, the last ninja, and the stone cold classic Friday 13th where you hack up your mates with a square attached to a line. amazing.
afriday

I’ve spent many afternoons in front of a C64. It’s a shame that Maniac Mansion is missing on the reissue.

I loved a game called beam rider.

Bought one on amazon tried it once sent it back for a refund. Disappointing for all the reasons mentioned above plus it comes with what looks like a decent quality junky joystick which is very unresponsive in use and I wasn’t willing to invest in a replacement. I have around 10 fully operational c64s and various peripherals, MSSIAH, etc - thought this mini would be a quick fix modern alternative that would provide some convenient tech but it’s just a plastic box that looks like a c64.

Parallax, The Last Ninja & Microprose Soccer were my faves :two_hearts:

I’d definitely pay a fair price for a modern proper c64 clone that could run homebrew and third party software, Retro Pi and the like are cool, but a proper clone would be awesome. I don’t see this c64 mini as much different than the one released some years back in the joystick format aside from the hdmi port.

Cool link, thanks, that Combian64 OS looks interesting, I’ll have to look into that when time permits, I have a few pi’s sitting in a drawer doing nothing.
