Feel like the MIDI implementation makes Bytebeats a lot more like something you can actually sequence rather than either ALLTHENOISE or sampling it.
Cos you can do notes and algorithm resets and all notes off and stuff.

And I see it is discounted down to $199 at the moment, which is a pretty good price for a cool toy (even if all of this year’s cool toy money is going on Teenage Engineering’s new wonder…).
Love me some byte beat - the Maneco Groan Drone is built around a byte beat synth -> MS20 filter -> clouds which is an another take on the same thing. If ridiculously more expensive and possibly less whimsically fun.

going to get it MIDI’d to my Digitakt and see if I can’t actually make some music with it. Had a decent go with another Bytebeats synth thing, but was always frustrated at not really having much control over it. Looping, reset and CC’s for everything was exactly what I wanted.
Ah, you don’t get any of that with the Maneco. It’s more some sort of uncontrollable drop into the bowels of hell. Still fun, mind

Does anybody here have experience with importing this to EU (Austria specifically)? I reckon there will be import tax if I buy via tindie?
just got mine (to the UK) and yeah, I had to pay import tax (not very much) and Sales Tax (quite a bit).
had a little play with it, and it’s going to take a bit of taming (or just embrace the chaos!) , but it is pretty unique and the Elektron sequencer is definitely going to make it possible to do some pretty crazy things with it. I don’t know of anything else that does the bytebeats thing with as much MIDI control really.
also the manual is hilarious.
